Toj BMW (http://rupert8766.fotopic.net/p3072576.html)

While looking for some pictures at the weekend I came across these images from the thundersports races at Brands Hatch in the 80s

Gallery index (http://rupert8766.fotopic.net/c127130.html)

I cannot remember much about the races so cannot give much info on photos, but there are pictures of the Can-Am Lolas, Lolas & Chevrons, various sports 2000s and early Grp C

Well, I'm delighted to tell you that 77 is the Antifriction TOJ BMW that I drove with Richard Jenvey and Tom Dodd Noble, owned by Alan Batt from Bristol.
I'd have to look it all up but we were well placed a couple of times. Nice shot of Weaver destoying his rears as usual! Brings back many super memories.
Thanks very much Nordic. The Robinson 935 - whose was that then?

Barry Robinson & Dudley Wood drove that 935 in all the 1983 races apart from Thruxton in July

gfm, if the records are to be belived, then you did do rather well in the Toj! so well in fact that you won a race in 84 and had many other top 5 placings 83/84. I think the Toj is very pretty looking and fast car, but it is often, IMHO, overlooked when compared to Lolas & Chevrons.

Mick
There are plenty more pictures in the gallery (including 935s), if you want to see them just click on...

I don't think there are any more Thundersports yet to go on, but there are more boxes yet to be sorted so it is possible.

Glad you enjoyed them.

I was looking at an old VHS tape from 85 the other day. It was a recording of the Brands European GP support race won by Mike Wilds and James Wallis in the Otford Group DFL Lola. Commentary by our Murray of course. Great racing and hairy too with the speed differential between for example, the Foulston Can-Am Lola and Sports 2000 or clubmans cars.

Mention on here before, on one of those GP back up races, Rupert Bloody Keegan in the Ford was it, bashed us off at Paddock. God, was I cross?

gfm, you may be upset to know that I have photos of that nice Mr Keegan! punting you off track at Brands. When I find them I will try and add them to this thread.

Don't worry gfm, I may not "find" the photos for some time yet as I have plenty to scan.
One question though, how were you so restrained as to only throw your seat at Mr K? I am sure that if it had been me, then I would probably have thrown him into the crowd, who, IIRC, were just as upset with him as you were.

QUITE.

As I remember, he wouldn't get out of the car.

I wonder why? Perhaps he was genuinly worried that you were going to imitate Piquet at Hockenheim.

Hopefully this is a shot of John Brindley at Brands in 1985.

Or imitate James Hunt at Crystal Palace in 1970!
Would love to see your pics Glyn.

When I can work out the "how to part", then hopefully you will.

In hunt's case it was almost justified! (If such actions are ever justifiable)
