Interesting press release I received today from the MSA:

MSA IN AGREEMENT WITH THE MOTOR RACING ARCHIVE

As a result of a liaison between the Motor Sports Association and the Motor Racing Archive, an agreement has been reached that following the expiration of the legal period for which motor racing records have to be held, the Motor Sports Association will in future transfer these records to the Motor Racing Archive for long-term storage.

Speaking on behalf of the Archive, Martin Hadwen said, "This is a significant step forward for the Archive both in terms of recognition and in ensuring our ability to respond to future enquiries about these events."

Ends

Release MSA: 3 March 2004

I would guess Ted it is a record of the paperwork for the running of each meeting, clubs/officials involved, results etc etc.

The archive had a stand at Stoneleigh. I believe they have old magazines and race programmes and maybe (dare I say it) photographs

Okay - let me play Devil's Advocate here. I've been checking in at MRA irregularly since I became aware of its existence a year or so ago. It seems to me that, while the principles behind MRA are admirable, there must be a hell of a lot of duplicated effort here alongside the Library of the National Motor Museum. We certainly need a national archive for our sport, but we don't need two doing essentially the same thing! Beaulieu, I know, are strapped for cash, and I would suppose that MRA aren't exactly overrun with money either.

Does MRA see itself as a competitor or a complement to Beaulieu?
