I started a thread elsewhere and was about to post pics randomly, but my late father covered the '63 East London GP in his private album is such a way that I'd like to dedicate this thread to him, and the cars and drivers of the '62 EL Grand Prix.
My data is based on my dad's album notes, so I can't vouch for accuracy, so please view this thread for what it is - I race report, by a race driver, for racing enthusiasts...
Podium -
P1 Jim Clark, car#1 Lotus 25. / 85 laps / 2hr 10m / 36.9sec.
P2 Dan Gurney, car#9 Brabham BT7. / 85 laps.
P3 Graham Hill, car#5 BRM p57. / 84 laps.
Jimmy going through Potters...

This pic is labelled "Graham Hill in pit" in my dad's album, but it must've been taken at another race & time...
The car is #3 in this photo, but according to my programme it should be #5.

Here's an interesting photo and caption -
"Team Lotus. #2 Trevor Taylor. Jimmy holding up #1 bonnet."
I guess that's Mr Clark himself, bare chested in the blue overall pants, working on the car himself..?

pierre pics are superb got any more? i do think the pic of the v8 lotus engine car could my be trevor taylor? a lotus 21 would have a 4 cyl engine, ernest pietese only did 3 laps, trevor came 8th. i sure various people will tell me am wrong
Car # 7 is Jack Brabham in a Brabham-Climax V8 - if the number doesn't tally, then it must have been at a different race.
That Ferrari of John Surtees is the one I nominated for my All-Time Best-Looking Single-Seater on another thread - gorgeous!

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the photos. Like I said in the beginning, any info and comments with these pics should be taken with a pinch of salt. My old man was not a stickler for historic accuracy. Never-the-less, he sure had a good supply of passion...
Say, who's the guy with Graham Hill? I'd like to know.
I'll scan some more pics and post 'em up later tonight.
Cheers,
Pierre.

Here's a wrinkled and coffee stained one. It reads - "Graham Hill's BRM. This car cost R25000 to build."
Hmmm, ZAR25k. That would be roughly US$3800 at today's exchange rate. Helluva bargain eh?
