What a wonderful site. Apart from a long career in the music industry and now an independant label owner Ive started a production venture concentrating on some of the classic periods of motor sport that havent been documented well or in some cases not at all. The first project is documenting the CAN AM series from 1966-74 working in conjunction with US based Marilyn Halder (then spouse of Lothar Motchenbacher - the most prolific racer of the series 52 races from 71 events). Its a combination of hours of excellant super 8 and 16mm 'home movie' footage from Marilyns collection + actual network footage & stills from that period - were looking to release that in most global markets early 2005. The second project Im researching now is the history of motor racing in Australia from 1960 - 1975 specifically the Tasman Series - Gold Star - Australian Sports Car Championships - Australian Touring Car Championships. As with the CAN AM project Im interested in any 'home movie' footage or network footage, video footage and/or still photography from the above period for inclusion in the program. If theres anyone out there who can help or point me in the right direction please by all means email me at steve @capricornmedia.com.au

Steve I will be a potential customer for your video on the Australian side - bring it on!!!
I have a number of stills of differing quality, I have just started posting here. There is a terific Tasman site associated with that other Forum (AtlasF1) which is liable to be great source for your vid.
Good luck with the project - there is not nearly enough out there on the halcyon days (you can't tell I'm biased, can you!)
Cheers

Thanks Paul - interesting site - Im also on the Atlas F1 site - I see your a veteran.
Its a bit Sherlock Holmes trying to track down footage for the programs Im attempting to produce but Im aiming to put something in the market with these ongoing productions that is different to what Duke Video or anyone else do - its very much specialised and from classic periods of motorsport. The addition of the 'home movie' footage is just a different take on things as I can 'treat' the footage, put different washes through it, bump it up to broadcast standard and combined with the regular network or archival footage I get hold of it will make for a very different program than whats normally around. Lets face it there has to be hundreds and thousands of dads or uncles who shot lots of footage on motor sport over time and its probably sitting in a garage somewhere gathering dust - its just a case of getting the word around that Im looking for it. As it will take some 12 months or more to put each of these programs together I can afford to be patient - If you come across anything of interest in your travels please give me a hoy.

Hello Steve,
Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately I don't have any movies, (sorry) but I do have a car that raced in both NZ and Aust saloons during the 70's. And as kind as Thunder Road is, I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous.
But I will assist in anyway I can, and I will be an eager buyer of your finished production.
Regards,
Bruce

Great project! About time there was a decent video/DVD available of the CAN-AM series. I will definitely buy it whenever you release it.
