Everyone is free to post your predictions. nobody signed up in advanced, so there will be no bonus point. This is a 5 race championship Monza, Le Mans(24hrs), Nûrburgring, Silverstone and Spa(i am including the 24hrs of Le mans as part of the LMES championship- but the 24hrs will be double points)
entry list here: http://www.lmes.net/fr/index.asp?H=S&C=572&V1=ecu
note: there are a few teams that are not on ths list. I am 100% sure that the Vitaphone/Konrad crew will run in this race (Michael talked about it after the FIA GT race + its on Uwe's Site) - other possible entries are the 2 taurus sports lola's + the Chamberlian Synergy TVR's. Its already almost too late to be posting this to begin with, i wanted to wait till the possible moment.
here are the rules:
--Pick the POLE SITTER for for each class (LMP1, LMP2, GTS, and GT)
--Pick the top 5 finishers in each class (LMP1 , LMP2, GTS and GT)
ENTRIES ARE DUE Thursday May 6th@ 11:59 PM GMT
any questions or comments, feel free to post it here. I hope a lot of you sign up for this championship. Its really wide open in most classes! (maybe except LMP1- but will still be good racing to be the "best of the rest")
I'll post my list later this week...but I'm sure I registered early. I registered for the ALMS and LMES at the same time (or thought I did).
yes, but i never made an offical regristration. its no big deal, since everyone before got 1 point. this time, everyone starts off with 0 points wont make a diffrence at all
No worries, I was more interested in making sure that you had me registered. Thanks.
Tim Northcutt 3 May 2004, 19:03 So....

tblincoe 4 May 2004, 18:11 does anyone know what the deal is with GTS? the ACO entry list has 1 konrad saleen, news services are reporting the second vitaphone/konrad is going to be there, and DSC has neither konrad saleen on their entry list... whats going on?
Tim Northcutt 4 May 2004, 18:14 Added note to my picks:
LMP1 looks serious ly strong for this race...
I like the five I picked, but I could have swapped any of the following into the mix for the 4th & 5th places:
Rollcentre Dallara
Creation Zytek
Team Jota Zytek
Kondo Dome-Mugen
Intersport Lola-B160 Judd
and it really goes even deeper with RML and Lister...but they are not in the next five above just because of what seems to me to be a lack of track time to develop what they have....
One could argue that with Team Jota, but the Zytek is a strong car....
I felt it was the best non-Audi prototype in FIA-SCC last year...but issues (spins, breakdowns, etc) hurt them... they were leading the many races against RfH and Pesca when issues hit them...
with a full year of competition under their belts and the fact that the program is directly under Zytek now tells me that those "problems" will be much fewer for all concerned this year...
The only guys I see as backmarkers in LMP1 are Durango, the Spinnaker "Boat People," and Nasamax.....
I just see those three as having problems for one reason or another...whether it is too new (Boat people), too untested (Nasamax) or too underfunded (Durango) to mount a major effort needed at this level....
My "team of Interest" in LMP2:
Team Randaccio.....
If Any Forum members are Going to Monza:
Help Get an Answer from This Team for Me...
Someone please find out if that "Ford V-8" is from the old Cosworth CART engine that is now known as a "Nicholson-McLaren" or if it is derived from something Cosworth built that was 3.5 L....that was being phased out as an IRL engine...
or whatever...
Thanks!
The entry seems to be changing on a regular basis thats why I am not doing my prodictions till Thrusday just in case things change again, which of course they are........
tblincoe 4 May 2004, 22:57 well now dsc is reporting that there are no saleens expected, and that the lister is gone in lmp1?!?! what the hell?
Duffacus 4 May 2004, 23:12 Also seems like theres no A-Level Engineering Porsche either.
tblincoe 4 May 2004, 23:14 i mean, you talk about entrant drop-off!!!
ok heres the deal:
no courage factory car for sure.
there will be 2 saleens. 1 for Nash and one for Konrad (under the name Vitaphone and #59) so everyone that picked #59 so far is ok, even though you said it was a Konrad car (it is, but the name of the team is Vitaphone)
trust the LMES offical site list. because DSC's list is wrong right now. there will also be 2 Taurus Sport Lola's entered, and DSC doesnt even have those!!
how abou this: everyone start over starting tomorrow monring. by then, we should get a firm idea on who's in and who is not. so the above 2 entris WILL NOT COUNT. you have to re-submit them. (because both of you included the courage comp car in there)
DiscoGoober 5 May 2004, 03:12 Would it be okay if you just submitted a different LMP2 top five instead? But even so, there's only four LMP2s to choose from for five spots.
yeah, so it would be only 4 LMP2's. please, can you just copy and paste it from above? it would be alot easier on me when putting these entries into a database
SALEEN S7R 5 May 2004, 04:44 Theres only 4 LMP 2 class cars at the moment entered for the Monza 1000km's, so would it be better to predict the top 3 for LMP 2?
yeah, ok.. pick the top 3
Also, the #59 Konrad/Vitaphone Saleen is confirmed for Monza

I moved the Tampolli up a notch in my LMP2 picks after receiving info from Malcolm Cracknell at www.dailysportscar.com that was a brief piece they published from Oct. 5, 2003 about Mr. Randaccio, the Tampolli, and his plans for this year...
The full info is in the "Post Monza LMES" thread....

This is going to be a seriously good race! Each class was difficult to pick. It's tough to figure out which Audi will finish first and which will get pole. And the non-vag race, man. Pescarolo, Rollcentre, the three Zyteks, RML, Taurus, Kondo, etc.

SALEEN S7R 5 May 2004, 19:36 Just a quick note, this weeks "Motorsport news" newspaper has a article regarding Lister and the fued with Andrea Piccini, the article says that the team has made a settlement with the Piccini rather than waste time going to court, and getting the case thrown out. The article also says that the Lister squad has their equipment back now and will be back in FIA GT in time for Hockenheim. The big news though is that Lister will be at Monza this weekend with the Lister LMP, drivers are John Nielsen, Casper Elgard and Jens Moller.
Great news there then. :)

tblincoe 5 May 2004, 19:51 so the lister is going to be at monza? last i heard is that they were not going to be there because they were going to choose to test instead and get their drivers comfortable in the car as well as further develop the car in preperation for lemans

The LMES site and others have the Lister as "NOT" running this weekend....
Duffacus 5 May 2004, 22:48 There still seems lots of uncertainties at this late stage, whos in, whos out!? very confusing!

That list is a "General Classification" list for the Le Mans Endurance Series"....and I believe that it is outdated....
If you look in that sam "Events" index, and click on "Monza," then click on "Teams," that list seems fairly accurate, but as of this morning it did not include either one of the Taurus entries...
Other sites are reporting Lister's absence as well... if you look at the "Monza Weekend" thread and the "Post Monza LMES" thread, there are many sites that are referenced as sources that also say that Lister will not be at Monza...
Finally, an anonymous Forum member who receives accurate info from various sources, etc.,.... also has confirmed with "good" sources of his/hers that the Entry List that other sites have posted (including the list on the "LeMansNews.net site in the LMES section) is accurate....
That list does not include Lister....but does include both Taurus cars...
I know it is confusing, and I guess we won't really know who is there and who isn't until scrutinieering is done today and tommorrow morning, but everything I've read says Listeer will not be at Monza...
Hope that helps...

Tim Northcutt 6 May 2004, 20:20 We've got some good picks going here....
The Kondo has made its way onto a list, and RollCentre seems to be a solid top 5 choice....
I'm surporsed that we're not seeing the Pesca on more picks...
They've been quick this year at Paul Ricard and at the LM "Test Days" with the new Judd GV5....
Tim Northcutt 6 May 2004, 20:22 Zytek...with one team or another...also seems to be making the lists of many....

lol i end up finishing last. seemed like an exciting race (by judging by the T&S and Fab's comments). cant wait to see it on TV in a month (stupid Speed TV)
next race up for this championship is the 24hrs of Le Mans. For that race, the format will be a little diffrent. it will be for sure double or triple points. (so if you do well in the 24hrs, you will have a better chance at the championship)
Tim Northcutt 10 May 2004, 15:33 Thanks for doing this, 19Dodge....
BTW...exactly how do the points awarded break down?
Is it a certain number of points per correct pick in the exact spot they finished in, with lesser points if a car makes the Top 5, but you had in in the wrong spot???
An IRL Picks forum has 5 pts. for a correct pick in the spot they finised, with 1 pt for cars selected for Top 5, but actual finish being different than the place picked by the const participant...
Just wondering...
Duffacus 10 May 2004, 16:23 The way we do FIAGT is if you pick the correct winner you get what the winner would do in the race, for example 10 points, but if you guessed the 2nd place car wrong and it finished in 3rd for example you wouldn't get anything, then if you guessed 4th correctly you would get what that car gets, which would be 5 points. So you only get the points if you correctly guess a place and those points would be what that car would get for real.
I can't work out if thats how its done here though. Not very good at Maths :bag:
Tim Northcutt 10 May 2004, 17:39 BTW....
Congrats, Duffacus....
Great picks!!!!!
Duffacus 10 May 2004, 20:53 Thanks Tim, I won the 1st FIAGT round as well (at Monza coincidently) and then it all went downhill from there!
19dodge 11 May 2004, 03:28 Tim
yes, thats the way the points are done. Thanks Duffacus for explaining it :)
tblincoe 11 May 2004, 03:36 oh no wonder why i didnt do that well, i wish the points system was different... maybe the same as the way it is in IRL
Tim Northcutt 11 May 2004, 15:04 Doesn't matter to me on the point calculations....
But I would've done a lot better with the IRL's point system (5 for a correct place pick & 1 if you had a driver in the top five, but in the wrong actual place...)
I assume that a car also has to be "Classified" to earn the points, just as they would in FIA-GT or LMES????
