ok, I have worked on a new format for these fantasy challenges. The first race we will adapt it to is the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This race is part of the LMES fantasy challenge championship.. So points from this race will get added onto the LMES points.
anyone can post their picks.. here is what you have to do:
Pick the POLESITTER in each class (LMP1, LMP2, GTS and GT)
Pick the car with the FASTEST LAP in each class
Pick 3 CARS that will finish 1-3 IN EACH CLASS
Pick 3 CARS that will finish 4-6 IN EACH CLASS
DEADLINE IS TUESDAY, JUNE 8TH AT 11:00 PM GMT (london time)
basically what i changed was that you are now just picking the top 3 (and 4-6) but they dont have to be in the identical order you picked them. This is where many of us lost out in the FIA GT and LMES challenges. We knew a certain car would finish in the top 3, but it finished 3rd instead of finishing 2nd (like you have predicted) By doing this, everyone should get more points, and it will make this challenge more interesting.
POINTS SCALE
------------
1st. 30 pts
2nd. 24 pts
3rd. 18 pts
4th. 15 pts
5th. 12 pts
6th 9 pts
FL or POLE= 5 pts
notice the points are tripled for this event. so this round will for sure play a huge factor into the championship race for the LMES.
any questions at all, please just post them below

you pick 3 cars that will finish in the top 3, and 3 cars that will finish in the 4th-6th spots..
also note that the Spinaker Dallara and #34 Epison cars have been withdrawn. The 2nd WR is in. so only 49 cars will take the start...

LMP2 and GT gave me the most trouble... who's gonna finish in LMP2 and the competition in GT is just amazing. the quality of the teams in the GT class is just amazing, this WILL be the best LeMans since 1999 and it has the potential to be even better.
perfect , Tblincoe.
yeah, i still cant decide who to pick in LMP2. what if all the courages fail? whos left? lol Intersport and maybe one WR?
GTS will be tough too, since there are 5 good entries.
tblincoe 2 Jun 2004, 04:14 exactly my thinking dodge... i highly doubt the courages can make it the full distance, but who knows, they may have worked out their test day problems. they surely have the pace...
I doubt Belmondo's entry will make it, because of the AER power.. sure its faster, but you have seen how reliable the MG LOLA's have been.. (aer engines)..
i also think that 1 or 2 Audis will run into serious problems. remember that this year , they cannot change the gearboxes. they can only rebuild them. we saw how long that took at sebring for the 88 entry. The past few years, nearly every audi had to change its gearbox. so, if it takes 30-40 mins to rebuild the gearbox, they will be out of the top 5 at least... its going to be very very interesting..
GT looks like it will be a Petersen runaway, however if they run into problems, the lead Freisinger and Orbit will be right there. Remember last year when the Alex Job/Petersen Porsche ran into trouble,, Orbit (and Acemco!) were right there. but both of them ran into trouble later on too.. I also expect JMB to run well, especially with Jamie Melo. He seems to be very talented..
so many possibilities.. i still cant even figure out a good prediction list hehe...
No selection for overall then, just each class?

correct, since most likely, a GTS or LMP2 car wont be in the overall top 6
Tim Northcutt 2 Jun 2004, 23:39 Let me see....
The Spinnaker Dallara on LMP1 Pole...and the Arena entry winning it all....
Any of the Courage C65's...but only with JPX engines cars
The Pagani in GTS...
oops...they aren't running...because the ACO screwed up by inviting them in the first place!!!!
I'm going to wait until sometime on Monday in the uSA to make my picks...
I want the "Mess" to get cleaned up first, so that I'll know exactly who IS going to race and who IS NOT going to be there....

exactly Tim.. i am waitng too. look at all the mess today.. i wouldnt be surprised if 3 or 4 cars withdraw (At this rate) lol
tblincoe 3 Jun 2004, 01:11 i dont see anything changing over the next few days... unless the courages just pull out completely. also, i think ACO screwed up bigtime this year in their selections. autocon, creation, and jota all would have been much better options than the spinnaker dallara. and the pagani over a saleen? are you kidding me? just think if the vitaphone/konrad saleen was at this years race... gts is good where it is, but it woulda added a third VERY fast car.
Konrad/Vitaphone didnt enter, since Alzen and Bartels were commited to the ring 24hrs in Jurgen Alzen's Porsche Bi-Turbo. I got confirmation that Nash did enter one saleen as well. So it was 3 saleens entered, but none accepted (aside from Konrad being thrown on the reserve list as #5- but then withdrawing)
When i first saw all those courages entered, i thought it was a joke, and i thought 2 or 3 would withdraw.. 1 has already.. i would expect another one probably (the 33).. too much work is needed in too short of a time

I reckon the battles about to be seen in GTS and GT are going to be something to behold !!!
The Badger 3 Jun 2004, 11:01 I reckon The #8 Audi will be the hare this year with Nishy and Biela on board . Kaeffer may not have so hot at the first race in the LMES but he did a great job at Sebring !!! And if they dont run outta fuel this year
I dont really have an idea about LMP-2 but the Intersport Lola should be the quickest thing there but Im not sure about reliability !!! Just a bloody shame about all this Courage engine thing !!!
GTS will be a humdinger !!! I reckon that Prodrive will have it over the Corvette's . It's getting toward's the end of developement and the 550's are really only in their second year . Ive seen it too many times before , when you try to eek that little bit more outta something . Prodrive said that they never had the 550 properly dialed into LeMans before , but they will this year ..... Oh boy !!!
GT ..... wide open if you ask me . I reckon its going to be the same as last year , a scrap to the end . Although there is also lots of legs on the older RS model as proved by BAM at Daytona earlier this year . Im think Marc Leib will be the man of the race at this one !!! :rotate:
Whens the 10/10ths meeting . Friday in front of the Pescarolo pits at 3 ?
The Badger 3 Jun 2004, 13:10 Sorry ..... can I cahnge the 33 Courage for the 36 WR ? Thanks , no more changes . I dont think you will see 2 Factory Courage's is the raeson .
more changes! the ACO have called up a few teams asking them if they want an entry to Le Mans!!! Creation Autosportif is one team, and another is not announced yet. It looks like Creation will be in the race then with the DBA!! what other team? maybe a GTS? hope its a saleen (nash or rml)!!
The Badger 3 Jun 2004, 16:57 Love to see a Riley & Scott !!!
tblincoe 3 Jun 2004, 17:25 ughhh... 19dodge, can i repost my picks later because now one of the factory courages has dropped out
yes, if anyone wants to change their predictions, they can (just please post it as a totally new one)
i personally would still wait till monday to post them, since i expect more entries (creation + a 2nd one, maybe a GTS car)
I've decided to wait until Monday, goodness knows what can happen in the span of four days.
tblincoe 3 Jun 2004, 19:56 oh yeah, im definitely waiting till monday... after this debacle i'm never entering predictions until the day before the deadline
In fact can I also cancel my pridections. I will re-post them once we know what is happening on the entry front.
up.. deadline is approaching.. i expect everyone to put in their predictions all at the last min ;)
Patrick B 6 Jun 2004, 08:50 You said June 8th right... im predicting more last minute entry changes

19dodge 10 Jun 2004, 01:38 provisionally, i correctly predicted 3 of the 4 polesitters. why am i saying this? because it is going to most likely rain tomorrow, so this could be the final grid...
19dodge 11 Jun 2004, 06:11 update:
after qualifying, SaleenS7R takes the early lead in the standings for the race. He correctly predicted 3 of the class polesitters. 19dodge and gert correctly predicted 2 of the polesitters, and a bunch of others correctly picked one of the four polesitters.
next stop: the race! expect results + standings to be released the Tuesday after the race.
