What was your favourite era in rallying? The incredible Group B Supercars of the '80s? Or the Group A cars that replaced them? Some would argue that the golden years are now, huge crowds close, exciting competition between lots of good drivers and so many different cars with works backing. I must admit I hanker back to the '70s with the works Datsuns and Escorts going head to head, i just love the induction noise from twin Webers and the big RWD tailslides. :)

The Group B times were definately the best in my opinion, when cars and drivers were wild, rather than now where technology drives the car. However, all sports must evolve, and these days are usually fun too...
Having watched this years Trackrod Stages rally, with everything from historics(mini's saab volvo), post-historics(escorts avenger! granada!!!!), Group B(6R4), Group A(escort impreza), Group N(impreza mitsubishi), WRC(escort impreza) & one makes championship(106) I can say its not just the car which counts but the driver. Seeing any of these cars being driven will determination & varying levels of skill, was well worth seeing. Forget the WRC, this is the real thing. Spectecal & variety.
