with not long to go until the start of the 2001 season ..it is lookinh likely that Greg Murphy and Neil Crompton just may miss out on racing this year...where the heck could they go ????
Crompton always has his channel 10 duties to fall back on ..but Im sure he would rather be driving and Murphy has been left out in the cold with the Lowndes/Gibson announcement.

sitting down yesterday we tried to work out the drives available...and there wasnt many...

2nd car for paul Weel
2nd car for Brad Jones
2nd car for Cameron Mclean

who knows???

anyone have any ideas where these 2 guys will end up for 2001 ?? or have they had their day and should call it quits ??

Good question...

Well how about second Briggs car (if they bring money).
Second Larko car (once again needs money).
Team Kiwi (ok, they do have two confirmed drivers, but you don't get a driver as good as Murphy every day...).
The second Faulkner car (if he still has his second car, once again, money would be needed, and in fact im not certain that McLeod will get the VT anyways...).
Tratt has a second car in his garage.
Rod Nash? If McConville goes somewhere..

I have a feeling Crompton would be more likely to want to commmentate in the states, they love him over there, and he would make more $$$.

It's funny isn't it? What more do these two guys have to do?

Crompton is the ultimate professional. Polished, well spoken, smart and can drive with the best. Murphy, just look at the results..

Crazy that they do not have permanent drives sorted for 2001.

Most people are surprised to find, well they don't mention it on TV of course, but the great majority of drivers in the SCS have to buy their seat. Of course we all know that most privateer teams will give a seat to anybody with cash and a licence, but we like to believe that the level 1 teams hire on merit only. Sadly, this is far from true. Without money, all the tremendous talents Cromley and Murph have to offer are just not enough.

Quite frankly this ****s me to tears, I think it;s a team owner/manager's responsibility to arrange the financing for a race team. If they expect the driver to bring money, i think they're just being bloody lazy!
