Does anyone know anything about sports car owner A.V. Datyon from the 1950s era? A friend of mine asked me about him because a motorsports article stated that Bonnier drove a Maserati 300S for an "A.V. Dayton from Kansas" at Sebring in 1957. Bonnier co-drove the same A.V. Dayton entered Maserati 300S with Masten Gregory's brother, Dale Duncan, at Sebring in 1958 as well.
However, being from Kansas City (which sits on the Kansas-Missour border) I never heard of him and neither did quite a few of the oldtimers here. But there is a reason for this apparently. Masten Gregory's brother, Riddelle Gregory, said that Dayton was from Oklahoma, not Kansas and that Carroll Shelby drove sports cars for him quite a bit. Any other details that anyone can provide on Dayton would be appreciated.
