so whos gonna win british f3 this year?jiggly_puff 7 Jan 2001, 20:10 who does everyone think it will be? everyone chats on about sato but i don't think he will!!!! people over look the real contenders with real talent! Sarah_I 7 Jan 2001, 20:14 Well once all of line up havve been confirmed I'll give a view. I'm also fed up of hearing about Sato, I'd like to see someone British come through and win it. jiggly_puff 7 Jan 2001, 20:23 cool!!! yeah i am soooo fed up of sato, who do u support then? Sarah_I 7 Jan 2001, 20:27 I still support Michael Bentwood, even though he'll hopefully be in F3000 next season. So I'll just go along to the F3 races and not really support anyone properly jiggly_puff 7 Jan 2001, 20:29 how can u not support ne 1!!!!! u must like some1, go tell me who do ya think will win the title! Sarah_I 7 Jan 2001, 20:33 nope i'm not gonna ''support'' anyone. i might want some drivers to do better than others but i won't support anybody. I don't know who I think will win the championship yet, but I'd like it to be somebody British or Gimmi Bruni jiggly_puff 7 Jan 2001, 20:39 see i got it out of u!!! gimmi ....nah he is all hype! as for the british drivers, paffet has the best chance i think. but why on earth do u like bruni! Sarah_I 7 Jan 2001, 20:45 u haven't got nething out of me. I'm not ''supporting'' gimmi, i'll just be following him and wanting him to do wel. if u se how i support u'll know there's a difference. I won't b walking round the paddock with an italian flag with bruni on it. i couldn't support ne1 the way i support michael. he was michael's teammate last season, so i've seen a lot of him, so that's why its him.. to me he looks to be a driver with a lot of talent who could win races next season. as i've said before on this forum i'm not a big fan of paffett, but i would love to see a british talent come through and at the moment it looks as if it will be garry. jiggly_puff 7 Jan 2001, 21:09 OK calm down!!!! gees u take it a little seriously don't u!!! i was merely asking why u liked gimmi!!!! but ne way i still think he is all hype! and paffet does come across as good, but then he didn't really have much competition last year, so maybe he won't b as good as everyone thinks! Sarah_I 7 Jan 2001, 21:17 sorry didn't mean 2 b so defensive! y'd u think he's all hype then? jiggly_puff 7 Jan 2001, 21:45 well because nobody had really heard of him before his f3 this year, and didn't really do ne thing spectacular...so i just think maybe he isn't as great as people think. sure he may be talented but i think others are better Sarah_I 7 Jan 2001, 22:05 we'll see jiggly_puff 7 Jan 2001, 22:10 yeah we will!!!!! and u will see i am right OVERSTEER 7 Jan 2001, 22:48 If Paffett goes to Jaguar F3, and Andy Priaulx goes to Manor then I think they could figure in the fight this year. jiggly_puff 7 Jan 2001, 22:53 nah i don't think priaulx will goto manor! and i don't think paffet is really as good as we think! gomick 8 Jan 2001, 03:27 james courtney  Marshal 8 Jan 2001, 09:48 The reason everyone talks about Sato is he's so quick! His performances in the 2nd half of last year, where he was the class of the field in only his 4th year of racing (he never drove karts) were very impressive. I agree Courtney is talented, and Gimmi Bruni is good on his day, perhaps this year he can recapture the form that made him Euro F. Renault champion in '99. As for the rest I think Paffett is overated (prove me wrong Gary), but the most interesting thing that could happen would be Lotterer (I know I've spelt that wrong) and Montiero race British F3 next year. As they were both front runners in the German and French championships respectively, they should add depth to the competition. But I still back Takuma to be champ. :) MichaelC 8 Jan 2001, 11:35 I think sensible money would be on a battle between Paffett, who no-one seems to like, and Sato. Perhaps if you're looking for a dark horse, someone like Ben Collins could be worth watching. I can't spell his name, but what's Karthakayien doing this year? redback 8 Jan 2001, 12:03 James Courtney  jiggly_puff 8 Jan 2001, 12:07 i think karthykain is doin f. nippon this year. i still think a lot of really talented people are being overlooked just on the basis of what happened last year. remember with a lot of team switching going on this year we will probably see a lot of suprises from people we wouldn't have thought were that good from there results last year. so my tip for the season is all the drivers that should have done better than then they actually did last year. as for james courtney i have never really heard from him apart from now.......so i can't give an opinion! gomick 8 Jan 2001, 12:09 karthikeyan is racing in formula nippon i do believe ;) Dan Friel 8 Jan 2001, 13:59 Sato by a mile.. not sure why no one likes him, he's always come across very well - and he's very quick. If he doesn't win it, I'll eat my hat! jiggly_puff 8 Jan 2001, 14:11 oh no nothing against sato as a person he looks really nice! just think he is very over rated and if he doesn't win it, i will keep u to that hat comment! and if he does win it i will be very disappointed. Marshal 8 Jan 2001, 14:29 Originally posted by jiggly_puff as for james courtney i have never really heard from him apart from now.......so i can't give an opinion! Mr. Puff, I really think you should pay attention the series below F3, then you would know that ex-world Kart champion James Courtney won the British FFord Championship last year, as all our antipodean friends will tell you. Holding the FFord thought for a minute isn't Anthony Davidson racing F3 too this year. His progress should be interesting. jiggly_puff 8 Jan 2001, 14:34 excuse me sir but it is miss. puff, and im awfully sorry but james courtney's name has never been spoken any time i have been around to hear it, so its his tough luck i have not heard of him! doesn't mean i don't think he will be any good though! davidson...hmmmmm should be interesting! Sarah_I 8 Jan 2001, 19:48 Well I hadn't heard much about Courtney or Davaidson apart from during this off season either so its not just jiggly puff jiggly_puff 8 Jan 2001, 19:53 well i know davidsons brother was in big brother - but that isn't really that big a thing is it! nah but neither of them will win it so we don't need to be talking about them in this topic Marshal 8 Jan 2001, 22:46 I wouldn't be too confident about that statement, if you're not careful you might need a side order of Mr. Friel's hat ;) Craig 8 Jan 2001, 22:53 Sato vs Paffett :) Can't wait!! And for the record, i'll be supporting Sato, cos I have a small wager with Reb Appleton.... :D jiggly_puff 9 Jan 2001, 17:42 ok then i will be prepare to order a side order of that hat then! but i don't expect the order to ever arrive! cool_runnings8 14 Jan 2001, 17:28 I'm just practising my 'I told you so's...' Craig... FEUsmart 14 Jan 2001, 19:45 Well I didn't much follow F3 last year, but I know that you can never dismiss James Courtney, and why has nobody mentioned Mark Taylor who ran Courtney close to the FF title last year with a privateer team and is lining up with Manor for this season? And speaking of Manor - what are they up to signing Derek Hayes? (Sorry if this is old news, I've been on holiday) He was outpaced by Button in FF in the same team, and has since had one reasonable and one disasterous season in FPA. Ah well, maybe he'll do real good this year, Manor rarely pick a lemon to lead their team. Super Tourer 18 Jan 2001, 16:38 Derek Hayes got the drive by impressing Manor in Korea even though he wrote the car off!!!! Hayes ran Button very close in FF, beating him in the Eurocup, don't count FPA 'cos its a **** series, who does well in that..... No decent drivers have been able to do well in FPA so don't hold that against Derek. F3 will be make or break for him this year..... By the way, Sato for F3 champ if he keeps it on the road. Courtney,Taylor, Davidson and Praiulx will also figure. |
