Down your way : Petrol Prices

I think the last time we had any discussion about petrol prices was during the fuel blockades, so how about we do an update on what people are paying for their fuel at the moment. When the blockades were on petrol round here was 81.9p per litre, now it's come down to a much more reasonable 73.5p per litre, however, just a short distance away in Manchester the cheapest you can find is 76.9.

Down my way its 77.9p if you go to Tesco's or 78.9-79.9 on the main garage forecourts.

By the way, I live in Andover, Hampshire.

Over here the prices are (in dollars and per liter)
Premium: $1
Regular: 75 cents
Diesel: 50 cents

OUCH !

It's about $1.50 per gallon here at the moment.

Here in Oz the price varies dramaticly..in Oz dollars (not that thats worth much in world terms) I pay

91c per litre ..has dropped 10c in last 2 weeks.
now in Melbourne just 300kms away from me its around 82-83c per litre and up north where Crast Test and Dave Paterson live it is around 70c per litre.....how and why the gap is so big beats me but fuel costs way to much...we also have said goodbye to leaded petrol in this country..you can no longer purchase it ..the replacement has a lead supplement in it..dont bother me as I use Unleaded anyway.

marcus, the reason for the difference in price is the lack of state tax on Queensland fuel...but even so, the gap is larger than it should (when I was up in Qld, petrol was about 88.9 to 96.9 in Sydney and Brisbane was 71.9).

Actually the best i have seen it lately was 70.2c/l on the M1 motorway heading north, which aint bad going at all...

Well out here in 3rd world Essex I filled up at the local for 75.9p per litre down from around 84 at the height of the crisis , a pleasant surprise indeed to be able to register full for less than sixty quid ! :rolleyes:

I know our gas in the States is much cheaper than anywhere else in the world. Ours in Tulsa is $1.12 a gallon right now, that converts to around .30 cents a liter and that converts to 20 pence a liter. That is quite a bit cheaper than the prices in the UK. Sorry you guys have to pay so much.

Ozy, I'm in Andover, (just south of New) Hampshire.

I pay $1.69 U.S./gallon for 93 Octane unleaded

It's pretty cheap around here right now at about 65 cents/litre. It'll probably go up fairly soon.

Don't talk about fuel blockades. I missed going to the Goodwood Revival because of that. I bought and paid for my tickets well in advance, booked B&B and never ended up going because of the fuel blockade. I wasted well over £200.00 and I've still got the tickets. I live in Lincolnshire so its about a tank of fuel on a round trip, no chance, I only had quarter of a tank come weekend. :( :( :(

You could always take the tickets along to this years Revival and see if they notice when you try to get through the gate with them;)
I think I only managed to get petrol to get to the BTCC final because I drove round a corner and found myself stuck in the back of a petrol queue!!

Marcus, the state fuel tax is only 8c a litre, i don't know where the rest of the discrepancy comes from.

For the benefit of the non Australians, Queensland has the cheapest fuel in Australia. Approx. 72c/litre,
that converts to US $1.70/gallon or GB 29p/litre.

I use Avgas in my Datsun and it's $1.65/litre and i only get 8mpg. Good thing i don't race every weekend!

Do you want to run a long hose to bathurst because I'm paying $1.02.9 for premium unleaded for my ED XR6.Thats about $67 to fill for about 10.5l/100KM

ED XR6 is a very nice car, especially to drive arpound the mountain now and then eh? My Dad bought an XR6 last week.

Up here in North-East Scotland, I don't think petrol prices have changed a lot at all. Maybe the odd 1 or 2p off but that's about it. Anyway it doesn't matter for me because I'm too young to drive and so don't have to buy petrol. ;)
