Can anyone tell me where the Templestowe hillclimb was and also if the road is still there?

I'm aware it is near Blackburn Rd in Templestowe, and the area is now a housing development.

Thanks for any help.

The other side of the world to where I first thought!!

According to this it ran either side of the farm at the top of Blackburn road.

These might give some visual clues?

Look up Stillwell Rd in the Melways & you will be on the hill - that is the limit of my knowledge .

From memory the hillclimb was still marked in Melways up until the late 80's- early 90's. So if you know any
hoarders you may be in luck.

Maybe if you contact Melways they may help you?

I had Melways #4 but through it out a few years ago.

A friend has sent a scan of a 1982 map. The Hillclimb was still listed in the index of "Racing Tracks", but the map reference of map 34-E1 just shows "Pet Park Animal Farm".

steveatrobroy, I have just found some photos I got of the Internet of a group of people (from a club but I can't remember which one) showing them walking the remains of the climb in 2001.

Was the estate built after that time?

Here's the only pic of Templestowe I have on my web site: http://www.members.tripod.com/MotorsportArchive/David_Fletcher_Templestowe_1963_web.jpg

If the link does not work, go to the "1960's page 2" page of www.MotorsportArchive.com It is near the bottom of the page.
