Server too busy!!???

That was the message I was getting for about 5 min untill now.

Yeah, I had that too for a while

Sometimes servers get busy and rather than have a slow response there is a certain point at which a server busy message is send back rather than load the server for longer than is necessary.

Monday evening 7.25pm tried to log onto 10-tenths to see what's going on.... and repeatedly get a "server too busy" message until 7.42pm. Now bored and can only just be bothered to type this before surfing elsewhere.

I got the server busy error numerous times lastnight and again tonight

Got an email to say someone had posted a reply to this thread at 9.23pm. When I tried to see what had been said I just got "server too busy" again. I tried every 20-30 seconds and got here at 9.42pm 19 mins of being too busy on a Monday evening???? Is there a server problem or are you really that much a victim on your own success? Answers by email please, posts take too much effort to access.

Yep,it looks like it could be a victim of it's own success, most users online ever was tonight at 21:17. Maybe it needs more RAM

This is VERY strange as the server logs don't actually show there being any problems around those times, I've changed one of the board parameters relating to user limits and will monitor the situation. If anyone does get the busy message can they please take a screen grab and e-mail it to grant.macdonald@royalridge.biz with the date and time of the problem.

Get "Server too busy" at 9.30pm and 10.20pm last night, but only tried once each time. What's a "screen grab" and how do I email one?

A screen grab is done as follows:

Look at screen message, click control print screen then open paint and select edit and paste. Then save the pic as a jpeg. Then go to e mail system and open new mail/compose etc. Paste saved pic onto e mail and send it to Grant.

Funny enough, I got no problems at the times you mention. Wonder if it was ISP related>

Other people I was chatting to last night said "Ten Tenths is down, server busy" even when it was working fine for me...

Yes for me too and it showed the "slight problem with the server" message

Just to let you know, the server posted the "too busy" message for the last 10/15 minutes.

It does seem to be running rather slow today.......

Well haven't had any problems here today. Are you getting server busy messages or is it just a bit slow?

Just a bit slow since this morning. Takes a while to load pages but no messages.

Could just be a lag on the international connections then - it does happen from time to time - particularly when there's bad weather as usually a few cables will get damaged and all the traffic winds up on the remainder.

Let us know if it continues for more than another 24 hours and we'll check into it, but we've not noticed any problems this end.

Yes - it was so slow it took me 284 years to complain!

Occasionally server busy messages will occur, I don't see the need to report them to this thread whenever they happen.
