Anyone heard of Dick Sorensen?

Apparantly he has F5000 connections. Maybe 1973. Maybe involved with Keith Holland. May have driven a McLaren M10B.

It means nothing to me but his son reckons he drove in the British F5000 series.

Can anyone help?

The Dick Sorenson that I know races in South Africa. I think he races in Wesbank Modified Saloons. He retired in 1989. He's from Australia originally, raced in F3 and F5000 as well as Trans Am.

That could be our man. Where did he race F5000? His name doesn't appear in any of the results I have.

He raced F5000 in the UK and South Africa. The book I have doesn't detail any results or years that he raced in F5000. If you're keen to get in touch with him I can probably find his contact details.

He raced in TransAm in 1967, but I don't know of him driving an F5000, not in the UK/European series anyway

I'm in touch with his son who says he drove in F5000 but he doesn't appear in my records of F5000 in either the UK or South Africa. And my records are pretty good!

Can anyone point to an actual race in which he appeared?

I'm beginning to suspect I'm being wound up.

Like you I'm sceptical of this guy ever having raced in the British series.
I accept that he may have been ENTERED, but unlikely that he raced.
There are only a very few races where we do not know all the starters: the Danish race in 73 is one possibility.

There was a Dick Sorensen who raced an A.H. Sprite in Victoria, Australia in the mid 60's. Is this the same one who raced in South africa?

According to my records, yes it is.

Dick Sorrensen seems to be the same one I know of. He raced a very quick Nissan Skyline in South Africa. He never raced in F5000 here but may have elsewhere.

He is currently chairman of the Wesbank V8 Series in this country

Dick Sorensen hails from Oz and did race down under.

Currently he heads the Production Car racing series in South Africa and still races at the odd historic event where he pedals a D-Type replica which is often shared with his son Richard.

Never seen him in a single seater.
