Brabham BT23 Formula One Car

In the 1967 Oulton Park Guards Gold Cup there were precious few Formula One cars entered. One of the four that actually turned up was:

2.5 Brabham-Climax BT23A driven by George Pitt - colour = Primrose Yellow !!!

According to Autosport (22 September) it was a Tasman type car with the chassis widened at the rear to accomodate the larger gearbox and rubber universals. The engine was the 4 cylinder Climax out of John Coundley's Lotus 19.

George managed to do just 42 of the 45 laps but was second F1 car home.

Can anyone supply more details such as chassis number and what became of the car?

this is one for Bryan - I'm interested too as I am trying to work out the history of the Jane Repco & Bryan advised it was built up from a BT23.

We have discussed this car , BT23B , George Pitt , one of 3 or 4 chassis numbers / cars in the nearly all purpose Brabham BT28-29-30-35-36 thread.
The BT23A could be a typo or lack of knowledge.
There is only one BT23A, chassis number BT23A-1 which came to Australia as Sir Jack's Tasman car and has never left.

The Jane car was BT23E-1 , Sir Jack's next years car , which passed to the Bob Jane Corporation , John Harvey driver , parts of this car , and I do not know exactly what , were used in the Jane Repco. Probably only engine gearbox and maybe the corners.
Subsequently , the remains of BT23E-1 were stiched back together and went to Art Valdez in the U.S.A. in about 1988 or thereabouts, with a Repco.

I did not see the finished product .

In the programme it is listed only as a Brabham Climax.

The BT23A came from the Autosport report of the meeting. :)

the car WAS aBT23B.Jack Smith was killed in the same car at Snetterton when he was hit by the cars fire bottle that was mounted on the roll hoop. The engine fromthe car was fitted to the "tasman anglia"
