I had a similar thread posted in the Australian/NZ section regarding the 1972 Bob Jane monaro, which was sold to Phil Ward and is now apparently owned by Tino Leo.

Ive came across exterior photos but Im trying to find some photos of the engine when it ran in original form, without all the wild flares and modifications. From the previous thread i heard it was running a 350chev but im curious to know what it had.

Are there any old race mags with the car featured back in the day?

I can't remember which of the period magazines had engine shots of that car, but from memory there was one in a recent Aust Muscle Car magazine. Not sure which issue, but it would be in the last 6-9 months.

If I come across any period pics i'll drop you a line. But it could be a while.

Sweet... Thanks for that Bruce

Can you remember if it was an old flash back of when it ran in 72, or was it an article on the raced/modified version of Tino leo?

Thanks champ... Its just a car that has been through alot in its past with regards to the Exterior Body work, from painted red bumpers, to Huge Rear wings and big front spoilers and wider than wide flares.

Im sure it was first ordered as a Limited Edition by Bob Jane, and in the late 70's earlier 80's sold to Phil Ward who was sponsored by Channel 10. He then Later he was sponsored by Penthouse.

There is history on the car but ive never really been able to find much info about the internals.

Ive heard the Firewall was changed around and the engine mid mounted (unsure though) I also wasnt sure if the car was first built with fuel injection of if it was a mod done by Bob Jane later on in the cars racing years.

Sadly, Im not building a replica (im too young for the funds) but trying to get a bit of info for a website. There is numerous accounts and photos of Bob Janes other cars (Camaro/Toranas) but its a bit tricky finding info on the Bob Jane monaro.

Thanks heaps mate.

BobJane-Monaro;photos of racing cars in the late 60's/early to mid 70's were mainly taken externally,EG.from some advantage spot on the track or the pits etc, when I researched Bob's Camaro for restoration, after much searching I found a couple of not so clear photo' of the interior / engine / dash ,these old 'black and whites' were actually placed in the magazine article 'backwards' they, the 'layout' people/person didn't know enough about cars/camaro's to know any better, most teams such as Bob Jane Racing were not very keen for 'up close and personal' shots,my advise to you is to contact 'the guru', Mr John Sheperd, after all he was responsible for the construction of the Monaro to replace the 'over wieght' Camaro and the 'drive australian' CAMS policy, good 'Monaro, hunting!!!, and 'yes' the engine was 'mid' mounted in the 'sports sedan ' configuration. The Monaro raced as a Sports Sedan at the Adelaide GP in the early '90s (not sure of exact year). It was raced by Tino Leo (who still has it AFAIK) and was gold with red trimmings and bumbers. Unlike most of its competitors, the engine was forward of the firewall which was intact. Tino or Phil Ward (the man behind Aussie Racers) would be the best to contact for further information.
