Superloon,

Welcome to our friendly forum.

If you search through the threads in this forum you may well come up with some more pics because Nick has been the subject of a few discussions.

Also you might like to look around the site because we have many other topics including Armchiar Enthusiast where you can discuss slot cars among other things and there may be someone in there who could assist.

Try looking through this 'Supersaloon' thread Superloon.

Thanks Andrew.

I know about the thread but was getting ready for work so had no time to look for it.

Cheers Pete. Good to look through these great old pics anyway. There is an ex-Supersaloon Jag XJ6 in the auction at the Autosports NEC show. Saw it yesterday but in a state and needs restoration. Even looks as if it is still on the original rubber!
Any ideas who's it was? I'm guessing the ex-Tony Hazelwood car.

Not a clue I'm afraid. Must be someone on the board who'll know though.

Andrew was the BMC race tender at the auction? does it need a lot of work to finish it?

Sorry Simon, did not notice all exhibits. Just a quick look around the auction area and the Jag caught my eye. It seems that Autosport are trying to fend off the threat of the Stoneleigh historic show. The historic area at the NEC is very impressive. So many famous cars and the historic area is a great addition to the show.

Is that why I got a ticket in the post ? I wondered where it came from !

I'd love to go up but I'm just overloaded with stuff to do, although tiling the bathroom vs raicng cars . . . . .a tough call !!!

IIRC the Hazelwood Jag XJ was the only Sperloon of this kind, later driven by Gordon Mayers. I guess it must be this one. If bought and restored, where would it race these days ?

same with the modsports car in the auction - nice toy but nowhere to play!

Well surely they still fit in the Northern Sports/Saloon category?

Just looking back through that thread and it still makes me weep. The level of ingenuity combined with less stringent safety requirements gave us some interesting variations on the theme.

What colour was it Andrew? I helped spanner for a chap named Peter Frost who ran a very radical XJ12 in the 80s. It was black...very very black. Awesome piece of kit. Got the odd photo somewhere.

It was white/rust. I looked on the cheffins.co.uk site today, the auctioneers. There is a photo of it from '75 with details. Indeed the ex-Hazelwood, Mayers, Mick Hill car.
