Only 37 more sleeps

Seeing as all the other threads are pretty naff, may as well have another one, only 37 more sleeps until the lights go green and the action starts again.
This will cure the off season cabin fever. :brm: :brm: :chflag: :winner: :#1:

Ah, but there are no green lights anymore... just nothingness...

Maybe that's why they went to that system - to show that once the race has started, there's really nothing of interest to see :rotate:  :bag:

I love Formula One - of course I do have a multitude of other things to get excited about at the moment, but I shall duly remember to get excited in the course of things.

Ha! Martin's gridwalk. I shall take every available chance to remind you all how good RTL is for the F1. 5 hours on race day...Martin who?

I think we will have an interesting season. Different quallies (does anyone actually know what is happening yet?), tyre rule changes, engine rule changes, new teams, a smattering of newish drivers. DC not in a Mac, JPM in a MAC, no Davis Richards, lots of other things to ponder over chums.

I love F1 - I havn't missed a race since 1992, can't remember them all mind you, so no questions please.

I haven't missed a race since 1990-ish and despite the fact that we have had two seasons that have fell below expectations in the last three years, you still get that unbelievable build up of excitement, expectation and you realise why you love the sport.

Roll on Melbourne! This season looks promising!

Well I say if you haven't got anything nice to say about something don't say it.

But I expect even people who are not to fond on F1 to comment about happenings.

But it would be nice if we had a forum for top F1 fans, but there's no need, as we all are deep down. ;)

Anyway only 37 days, 10 hours, 33 minutes and 18 seconds, untill the lights go out.

It does make me sad that people who do not enjoy formula 1 / or, are traditionalists always find a reason as to why they arnt excited bout the following season; however, it doesnt change my enthusiasm for the upcoming year. Without allowing myself to get overly excited (and thus a great let down) this year is possibly, for me, the best season of the last 7 years (the time ive really been watching).

On a side note; I got my university timetable about a week ago, and was quite upset I had money off, yet, the rest of the week was full of lectures, however, it occured to me that now i can watch every f1 race this season!!! So please Gods allign the planets and give us an exciting 05!

O.K then so the lights that don't go green any more, that replaced the man who used to wave a flag, but now they turn red and then go out and then some idiot screams "GO,GO,GO,GOOOOOOOOOOO ,loudly on the telly, when we can all see the damn race has started, because the lights that were red ,went out and didn't go green, like they did after they replaced the man who used to wave the flag that started the race, before he was replaced by the lights that were green, but now go red before they go out.........is only 36 sleeps away from happening.

I think the vast majority of the people who post here enjoy the sport, but would make the observation that there is more to the sport than F1......

I've loved F1 for as long as I can remember but I haven't enjoyed the last few seasons of Ferrari/Schumacher domination. If we can have a season of real competition and real racing, then I'm sure my love for the sport will be even greater...... :)

I'm with you KB!

I get up at 6AM on race day here in the states to watch the European races, and for the Asian races I stay up all night, until the un-godly hour of 4:30AM, to finish watching the race! Now thats a fan my friends!

I stay up and watch all the races, no matter what time I have to work/wake up in the next morning. Plus I tape all the races, ad free and watch them again the next day, followed by entering the race and qually results on my F1 database on computer, after which I update the scores of the tipping comp I run with friends.

I have seen every race live since the early nineties and I would never think of missing one.

While IndyCar or Touring Cars may offer more in the way of all-out entertainment (and I watch them both), there's something special about F1.

It's the only type of racing where I feel a tension before the start.

Knowlesy
29 Jan 2005, 12:56
Yeah, I'm with you on that last point there KB. I become a wobbling wreck in the weeks leading up to Melbourne for example. I love all motorsport, but I don't get the same sense of anticipation from, say, the weeks leading up to the opening IRL round.

But it's for that reason that I often feel more compelled to complain about F1 at times than other disciplines, because I expect more from it than anything else. Hence my over-reactions after Hungary last year!

It saddens me a little that obviously genuine motor sport fans don't seem able to enjoy watching one of the greatest masters of their sport. Maybe I'm being a bit "untypically" British (not rooting for the underdog and all that) but I want TGF to wipe the floor with the lot of them. And its not because I particularly love Germans or Italians, but because I want to witness in my own lifetime the greatest driver ever to take to a race track. That is still up for argument in some people's minds, but another couple of seasons of total domination will silence all the critics and force even his detractors to admit that we are witnessing history being made, not just statistically, but in reality!

Same here, I remember trying to sleep the night before the '99 Japanese Grand Prix, really nervous because Eddie had a chance of winning the drivers world championship.

Its just dawned on me how sad my life was before i got married. I still enjoy F1 but at a slower pace. I havent missed a race since Australia 1986 altough more recently many are recorded and watched later that day. I like close racing which is why I long for the end of the Schumi era. Then I will toast to a Great driver and a return to closely fought races.

The start of a new season always exites me purely to see drivers in strange cars and new liveries.

P.S Big up the Jenson Button for World champion. The name of my child relies on it following on from Michael, Michael Jnr and Michael III. :p

I can’t wait. When school life is getting me down I will be able to say, “Hang in there Vicki, only x days until you can watch a Grand Prix.” And I’m not being sarcy, it means I won’t have to resort to watching figure skating cos all the racing is being quiet. Also, my Internet connection might be sorted so I will be able to post without the risk of being cut off like the last time I tried to post this. Four whole days without Ten-Tenths does funny things to a girl… So if these words reach you, I am alive and well although slightly deprived of forum browsing capabilities.

Last off-season was absolutely unbearable as we sat waiting for the season billed by most as "most likely to be the greatest ever".

True - although I view the F3 and WTCC races as being part of the traditional racing season and the race of champions as a fun event.

It doesn't compare with top class single seaters regularly racing through November, December, January and February.
