Besides the Fantasy Champ Car Competition at the Indy Racing forum and the recently launced Fantasy Formula One Competition in this forum, there's another competition coming your way.
The Top 6 Predictions Competition.
We did this last year just for fun but now it gets serious.
Who's crystal ball gives the best reflections, who's the master/mistress of clairvoyance?
These are the rules:
Before every Grand Prix you can tell us what you think the outcome of the race will be. Provide us with your top 6.
For every driver mentioned in the correct place you will receive 2 points. For every driver in the top 6, but not in the correct place, you will receive 1 point.
Announcements for every round of predictions will be given 1 week before the race.
Predictions have to be in before Saturday, i.e. before qualifying.
If in any case you want to change your top 6 predictions, you are allowed to change your predictions only once, again before Saturday.
You don't have to subscribe to this competition, just enter your top 6 whenever the announcement appears on the forum.
Remember, you may skip a round if you want, but ofcourse entering all rounds will gain you more points.
But, there is more.
In order to keep the competition exciting until the end, you can enter a top 6 of the final result of this season.
Who will be world champion, who will be runner-up etc. up to 6th place.
This time, for every driver in the right place you get 10 points, for every driver in the final top 6, but not in the right place, you get 5 points.
Ofcourse, you have to enter this final top 6 now in order to gain those extra points at the end of the season.
You can start entering now. Registration will close on the 3rd of March, the day before the first Grand Prix.
My end-of-season top 6 prediction:
1. Michael Schumacher
2. Mika Hakkinen
3. David Coulthard
4. Rubens Barrichello
5. Ralf Schumacher
6. Jacques Villeneuve
Valve Bounce 18 Feb 2001, 02:31 Gerard, just to help us poor schmucks who can't remember who is driving for which team, can you please direct us to where we can check this out? I also want to say that your predictions are predictable and not very original and lacks imagination. :p  :p
Well done gerard! I've been looking forward to this! :)
My 'End-of-Season' top 6 prediction:
1. Michael Schumacher
2. Mika Hakkinen
3. Ralf Schumacher
4. Jacques Villeneuve
5. J.P. Montoya
6. Jean Alesi
How soon (before each race) can we post the pre-race predictions?

1)MICHAEL SCHUMACHER
2)MIKA HAKKINEN
3)DAVID COULTHARD
4)RUBENS BARRICHELLO
5)JACQUES VILLENEUVE
6)RALF SCHUMACHER
The announcement to enter your predictions for every round of the championship will be posted on this forum Sunday prior to the race.
That's 1 week before every race.
Indeed Sparky, it's probably best to enter the predictions as late as possible. But they have to be in before Saturday.
I will ofcourse consider everyone's local time zone.
And don't forget, you may change your predictions as long as you do it before Saturday. You may change only once.

I've just had an idea. Perhaps we could summarize all the predictions by taking each poster's top six and give points in the descending order 10-6-4 and so on, and thereby see who the 10 Tenths community as a whole sees as favourite(s) to take the WDC this season. I'll volunteer to make this summarization of predictions. I'll do it after registration has closed on the 3rd of March (there'll be no recounts ;) ).
Okay Im not really expecting anything abnormal to happen so here's mine:
1. Mika Hakkinen

Not a good year for Mika H....
The Orange 8-Ball has been shaken, and the resulting predictions for the top 6 of the 2001 WDC is as follows:
1. Michael Schumacher
2. Mika Hakkinen
3. Ralph Schumacher
4. Jaques Villneuve
5. David Coulthard
6. Rubens Barrichello
Conservative perhaps, but the Orange 8-Ball likes to win!!

Valve Bounce 21 Feb 2001, 12:11 That was the easy part. And here are the bottom eight:
Marques
Alonso
Mazza
Bernoldi
Heidfeld
Burti
Raikonen
Verstappen
This gets very difficult after you pick the bottom 2, because any of the other 6 can pick up points. Alonso was picked second worst simply because he is in the Minardi. Most of these selections are no reflection on the drivers, but simply my guess on which teams will achieve the least.
Gerard, could you please save this also?? Ta!!
I agree with most of your picks for bottom eight, VB, but Heidfeld?! Surely he'll do better than that. I think he will be around 10th place in the final standings. My gut feeling says so! :p
1. MH

No more comments !
Valve Bounce 21 Feb 2001, 23:39 You are probably right R, it became very difficult to pick which cars won't perform, and I know nothing about Sauber's engine. So I just took a stab that it will not have reliability. Everyone is tipping that Nick will be the big improver, so I'll probably have to eat my words at the end of the season.
Downforce; Do you realise it's only you 'n' me who can't see DC in the top 6? :)
Most members' predictions seem to be a combination of the following characters:
1. Michael Schumacher
2. Mika Hakkinen
3. Rubens Barrichello
4. Jacques Villeneuve
5. Ralf Schumacher
6. David Coulthard
However, I (as you do) rate JPM highly, but DC not so.
I guess we'll see... ;)
Sparky, I rate JPM very highly, but I think top six in his first season in F1 in a second tier car is expecting a bit much. As for DC, I think he gets a bum rap and bad luck and a few ill-timed mistakes have undeservedly damaged his reputation. Picking DC in a Mac outside the top six means either that you really don't like him or are not taking a realistic view of the field.
downforce 22 Feb 2001, 09:46 Yeah Sparky yeah!
Eero!..DC aint goin nowhere this season! hes been in the best car LONG enuff!!
JPM?...hes gonna be good, tho hes still gonna finish behind ole Ralfy...but HE will make the "Schumacher" out of Ralf
My final top six:
1 Michael Schumacher
2 Mika Hakkinen
3 Rubens Barichello
4 DC
5 Jacques Villeneuve
6 Ralf Schumacher
So it shall be written, so it shall be done.
Dino IV 22 Feb 2001, 15:24 Exciting season judging from the predictions :p
1\2: TGF\Mika ... hmmm close call, let's assume Mika will be up there in the first half of the season as well; 3\4: RB\DC ... hard to say as well. DC will fall through I guess and RB will up his game; after that, tough to say, but I'll opt for Michelin having a rough first year so Williams won't be able to make that quantum leap yet; Jordan will IMO they're looking very strong as opposed to BAR who give a really messy impression ... so:
1. Mika
2. TGF
3. Rubens
4. DC
5. Trulli
6. Frentzen
(7. Villeneuve; 8. Montoya; 9. Panis; 10. Fisichella; 11. Heidfeld; 12. Ralf ; 13. Button; 14. Raikonnen; 15. Alesi; 16. Bernoldi; 17. Mazzacane; 18. Burti; 19. Irvine; 20. Verstappen; 21. Alonso; 22. Marques)
:rotate:
1: Michael Schumacher
2: Rubens Barrichello
3: Mika Hakkinen
4: David Coulthard
5: Jarno Trulli
6: Ralf Schumacher
"Rationale"..... by the end of the year the Mclaren/Illmor will be the best package but the Woking boys will have major reliability problems in the first half of the season and just will be too far behind the Ferrari's to catch up.
take care all and I pray that the season is a safe one for all drivers, course workers, team members, spectators, and their families. Hope to see some of ya at Indy in September...
Murph
Valve Bounce 23 Feb 2001, 01:38 Hey Gerard, we forgot the Constructors' Championship. Do you want to start a separate thread?
Dino, you are going to look awfully foolish by mid season putting Ralf that far down.  Remembre the old saying: he who laughs last, .........
Valve Bounce, most of us are already participating in Fantasy F1, Fantasy Champ Cars and now Predictions Competition.
I think doing a Constructors Competition also is a bit of an overload.
Ofcourse when there are more people who want this, I'll go ahead with it.
Your wish is my command.
