What does everyone think of our teamTeam GB (http://www.a1teamgbr.com/) after testing at silverstone earlyer this month with average results do you think we will make an impression on the championship at brands next month???

I think Britain will be among the favourites to win the title.

They do indeed.

Personally I beleive we have as good a chance as anyone at doing well, Arden as we all know are a excellent team, and IMO are probably the best team in single seater racing outside of F1. The only cause for concern IMO is the driving line up, dont get me wrong, Robbie Kerr is a excellent driver and worthy of his place. Is he the fastest driver available though? IMO no he is not, then we have Alex Lloyd, again another good driver but relativly inexperinced on the International stage. It will be interesting to see what happens anyway. IMO we have all the ingridents of doing very well in A1 GP. :)

Slightly off topic, A1 GP had better hurry up and start announcing more details on the teams of the remaining nations that are entered, theres still quite a few to go isnt there.

There are five still to announce.
But these are expected to be named this week.

Lets go for a home win on home soil in the 1st ever race, now how great would that be!!

Anyone else notice that Robbie was racing in the F3000 Pro Series at the weekend and won first time out on a track he's never been to before (i assume to learn it for A1 GP)??

Do you think swapping drivers will hurt or hinder a team? Different driver's input will help, but it restricts one driver's time in the car. You get twice the chance to find a really quick driver if you have two drivers, but if you guarentee a drive to both you also lose a race with the quicker driver.

I imagine that Britain have given neither driver any guarantees of seat time.

Well certian tracks will suit certain drivers so that will come into play. Also it will give the other drive an added incentive to preform to his very best knowing their is a driver harping down his neck for that same race seat. Whereas Jani and Piquet pretty much have their race seats and wont be challenged same with Parente. And all three should be challenging at the front.

But in terms of swapping drivers, Red Bull have done it this year in F1 and it doesn't appear to be doing them much harm. Although they have opted against it for 06.... so it might actually mean its not the best way.

With so much prize money at stake (I think $300,000 for first place in the feature race) it makes sense to have two drivers. I'd say it is clear that GB have a 'primary' and a 'secondary' driver from the testing but they're keeping their options open until the last moment.

It would be difficult to disagree with a very persuasive view that Robbie Kerr is 26, very experienced and very quick, a double BF3 champion, and needs this break dearly - he also has the experience in this A1GP car now ... Alex Lloyd is 6 years younger, equally quick, but has time on his side, and could gain a lot of very valuable experience working with Robbie ... with it looking likely that only one car will be available to the teams until possibly Australia, it would seem logical to concentrate on Robbie in the car until the 2nd car arrives, and then let Alex catch up and do some of the races where he's quicker than Robbie ... groom him for next year. That's what I'd be tempted to do ... it would be disappointing for Alex, no doubt, as I'm sure he'd want to get out there and give it a crack from the off, but it's not the logical option for the team in my view.

I think GB have been very brave and should be commended for giving this opportunity to two drivers with ability but who have struggled to find drives due to the lack of proper budgets. It would have been very easy to just put "a name" in there. Robbie is clearly a proven commodity and Alex has shown in the few F3000 races that he has done that he is quick, brave and a fast learner. I expect good things from both of them.

According to Ceefax, Robbie Kerr has been confirmed as the driver for the first two races at least.

Inevitable that was, I believe.

He's excellent around Brands, and he won a race at Lausitz in Italian F3000 the other week.

But don't believe everything you read on ceefax, just look at the weather reports you get on there:Shrug: :Shrug:

I was making a joke at the expense of Ceefax. It is i think the right decision , Robbie is a Brands specialist, has just won at the track in Germany and has done the bulk of the testing in the first car.

A1 TeamGBR will make a formal announcement tomorrow (Thursday). Autosport beat them to it on their web site today!

Good to see Kerr get the seat, he is quite a quick driver and was the quickest of the Brits at Paul Ricard. Plus he has a sound history of results.

And at brands Hatch a good showing will only put him further into the English hearts.

If A1 Team GBR was going to make the announcement Thursday, why did they invite the media to a special event on Wednesday and tell them all then?

They must have anticipated the fact that it would be leaked everywhere.

...Maybe that was the plan.
