maximus 15 Aug 2005, 23:19 Thoroughbred F1 cars!
GT's!
Formula Fords!!
An incredible line up, I'm looking forward to the whole thing. What does everyone think?
SALEEN S7R 15 Aug 2005, 23:26 Im thinking it sounds very promising, cant wait to see what the GT entry list looks like. The race is open to GT1, GT2 and GT3 class cars. This combined with A1 GP should be a very good combination IMO. Lets just hope the attendance is good. :)
maximus 15 Aug 2005, 23:38 Lets hope some Astons and Ferraris turn up, I've been dying to listen to them in the flesh (doubt they are eligable though, aren't they GTR?)
SALEEN S7R 16 Aug 2005, 00:00 They are eligable, they would be in the GT1 class. We might see a DBR9 or 2 but dont count your chicken's. What we should see are a couple of Saleen S7R's and maybe a Lister Storm in GT1 and perhaps a DBR9, a 550 is unlikely though as there is no British team currently running a Ferrari 550. Expect many of the BGT GT2 regulars to turn up though. :)
Lets just hope the attendance is good. :)Apparently all the Sunday pit walkabout passes are already sold out.Hopefully the support race paddock will be free?
Knowlesy 16 Aug 2005, 21:21 Damn, wish I could get there. :( That's a fab line-up.
Stephen Green 19 Aug 2005, 15:55 Theres also FPA and Ginettas on the bill. Just discovered I am on holiday that weekend...Just going to cry in the corner and pull teeth with pliers :(
runshaw 19 Aug 2005, 21:51 I can't go either. Is the A1 race televised in the UK?
theracegypsy 19 Aug 2005, 22:01 Me neither. Wanted to come, should be a great race to work, but already committed to being Course Observer at Las Vegas for Champ Car.
Enjoy it all who are going.
SALEEN S7R 19 Aug 2005, 22:04 I can't go either. Is the A1 race televised in the UK?
Yep, live on Sky Sports. Both qualifying and the race. :)
....And looks like I will be going. :rotate:
runshaw 20 Aug 2005, 00:14 Yep, live on Sky Sports. Both qualifying and the race. :)
I don't have sky sports!!!!!!! DAMN!! :banghead:
maximus 20 Aug 2005, 00:32 I've just bought a tent (£20 good ol Halfords) so i hope the tickets don't sell out just yet as I can't afford them until next week. I think I'm just being paranoid though.
EvilPumpkin 21 Aug 2005, 10:59 Well looks like we'll be there - look for the marshals post flying the Ireland flag......
As for tickets...... well watch the site announcements very carefully over the next couple of days...... ;)
Ian Sowman 21 Aug 2005, 11:03 I don't think there's any danger of tickets selling out, maximus.
SALEEN S7R 21 Aug 2005, 13:33 Indeed, no danger. IMO. Im expecting a healthy crowd though, anything from 50,000 - 75,000 is possible. IMO. Although having said that I would love to be proved wrong. :)
EvilPumpkin 22 Aug 2005, 12:22 As you can see, there is now a competition exclusive to Tenths which will give you a chance to win tickets! :)
JohnMiller 22 Aug 2005, 12:26 expecting a healthy crowd though, anything from 50,000 - 75,000 is possible. IMO.
Seems rather high to me. Maybe 5,000 to 10,000, IMO, if that.
How many people in the street would have heard of it?
Stephen Green 22 Aug 2005, 12:28 I think Dr Palmer will be extremely disappointed if the crowd figure is below 50,000.
Peter Scillitoe 22 Aug 2005, 12:53 I think Dr Palmer will be extremely disappointed if the crowd figure is below 50,000.
Somebody told me at the weekend that there has recently been an item in (I think) the Daily Telegraph to the effect that for this, the first running of the A1GP at Brands, a crowd of between 15000 - 20000 was being deemed as "acceptable".
Obviously, most of us would hope for considerably more.
Ian Sowman 22 Aug 2005, 13:07 This is where a terrestrial TV deal would come in handy. Imagine if the BBC had the rights and they were spending the weeks leading up to the event building up to it. And then, on September 25th, live coverage from Brands Hatch presented by Graham Norton and Natasha Kaplinsky.
It needs a big push outside of the specialist media. I imagine that the actual attendance would be somewhere between that quoted by John Miller and that by Stephen Green.
I hope my hotel has Sky Sports. I'm at Croft for a proper meeting that weekend, but I doubt sell out crowds will be a topic for debate up there.
maximus 22 Aug 2005, 20:21 I don't think there's any danger of tickets selling out, maximus.
Thanks, I always get like that when I want to go to something really badly, but haven't got it sorted yet.
I got tickets for the BTCC final 2 weeks before the event last year, so I doubt theres much chance myself, but hey thats common sense, something I don't do!
Gilles lives! 22 Aug 2005, 20:47 Can't wait, great line up and using the GP circuit. We will camp at Thriftwood leisure park which is around 2-3 miles away on the A20 and has full facilities, so it's ideal for the women and children.
I would have expected around 30,000, spread out over the GP circuit shouldn't be too busy. I just hope that they can have the PA system up and running out on the loop as things can become a little confusing with safety cars etc.
Hopefully good entry for the GT'S with probably plenty of British series runners and perhaps the Belgians and Dutch coming over.
We just need to book some decent weather now, unlike Silverstone LMES, not enjoyable that !
maximus 25 Aug 2005, 20:23 Got my tickets!!
:D

AlMillion 30 Aug 2005, 17:13 Great, thank you!
LoopHole 2 Sep 2005, 15:10 I'm really looking forward to going to brands and to be one of the first to see this exciting series. I was wondering, if it was worth purchasing a grandstand ticket or not? Any response is appreciated.
Stephen Green 2 Sep 2005, 15:16 It depends on where you want to watch from. The grandstands are along the start/finish straight and at Paddock Hill Bend. Given there is likely to be a large crowd it might be wise to buy a grandstand ticket as trying to peer over the heads of the other spectators if you don't, could be tricky.
AlMillion 2 Sep 2005, 17:07 I may have a couple of spaces left in my suite i've booked (top floor) - if anyone is interested, please send me a private msg. Please note they're not cheap as it includes breakfast, 3 course buffet lunch, vip parking, etc..
i got a ticket.... sounds good..
hope it dont bloody rain
but y oh y do sky have it??? they do pants motor racing, and anyone who likes motor racing usually doesnt have sky, cos its all football on there!!!
motors tv, or eurosport or bbc or itv (preferable not them either tho) should have it!!
it would be a lovely gap for when f1 isnt on, which is wot its supposed to be, so it should be on tv so everyone can see it, it will be the death of it else in this country.
TV coverage of Ricard test on Sky right now.
