Indeed - no James Allen or Carlton Kirby types to scream at!

I think in Ben Edwards and John Watty we have two of the best and informed commentators but I have yet to hear Andy speak publicly.

What about the irish coverage. Are we gonna be stuck with sky sports and their crew constantly saying how fantastic team gb are.

I think everybody will get a look in as it is going to be very close, and of course with that well known Irishman Ralph Firmain at the wheel the Irish squad should be right at the front.:nyah2: :woot:

Sounds like a very good crew to me, Edwards and Watson should be more than capable. I too have not heard Andy Priaulx talk a lot but when I have seen him interviewed in WTCC races he has always come across as pretty confident and self assured, I think he will be able to do a good job and no doubt he will not be the only person in the studio, he will of course have guests in the studio with him so the emphasis wont be purley on him.

I remember Ben and John covering F1 for Eurosport, they made a brilliant team, excellent choice!

Keith Huewen is down as one of their reporters aswell, he's the guy from their IRL coverage right?

Yep - that's right. Cars arent really his thing though so it will be interesting if he can find the enthusiasm for it. Sophie Aal is down as a reporter too - she's not the one from Speedway is she?

Sounds a very good team. Edwards and Watson were miles ahead of ITV during their Digital F1 time.

He is.
But he'll only be in the pit lane for Brands. After that he'll be joining Andy Priaulx in the studio.

Really?? Is Georgie Thompson not staying in the studio then?

Georgie will still be presenting. Keith will be a studio guest.

Just like the IRL coverage, they'll keep at least their presenting team in a UK studio

Ben is actually the International english feed so Sky just tap into that... they will only be sending people to the BH race other races will be done "from the tube" with the team in the UK..

I think he meant "will Hindy on a bus be live on Sky Sports?"

To which I think I can safely say the answer is No.

So are there going to be selected highlights on Terrestrial TV or what?

Channel 4 or 5 perhaps?

20 Sep 2005, 23:01
There will be no terrestrial coverage of either A1GP, or of Hindy's future use of public transport.

The only way to see A1GP is on Sky Sports.

The only way to see Hindy is... you're better off sticking to radio. ;)

BBC News 24 on Friday may be carrying something. Don't know any more than that.

Oh well, there's another Sport just signed itself out of Mass popularity by taking the Sky "Pound".

I thought this Ali Mactoum Ibrahim ali Ackbar chappie was an intelligent bloke until I found out he'd sold it to Sky.

When will people understand that more TV money doesn't mean bigger overall takings. Sky TV = No "watercooler moments" = Smalltime public interest.

Just look how much Boxing disappeared off the "Public interest Radar" in the 90's after it stopped showing on Terrestrial TV, and see how Cricket is starting to regret signing an exclusive deal with Sky after having their best Test series ever on Channel 4.

Will they never learn...?

Quite right!

Still at least the UK has a TV deal..the US and some parts of Europe don't even have a deal for highlights never mind live...
