Question about F1

I was wondering if any of you race fans have thought about how long it will take Cart to be bigger than Formula 1 ? Myself I give it 5 years as when Cart starts to race in F1's backyard people will see a closer faster type of racing . Like some of my posting on times show, Cart is closer racing right from Qualifying to the race itself. Also Formula 1 has this shadow hanging over it with back room deals hidden traction control. Team orders that are so blatant that if the # 1 driver is out the team won't support the # 2 ( Ferrari). Formula 1 is living off it great names of the passed to feed us this junk today. Cart is getting closer and closer every year so at the beginning of a race you DON'T know who will win. Tell me race fans when you look at the start of a F1 race you have a 50/50 chance of knowing who will win right? I say start to E mail TV, radio, Mags and tell them if you are not happy with what F1 is feeding you . We the fans are what keeps a sport alive. If fans are not watching then Sponsors are not being looked at during a race. If sponsors walk the whole show falls on it's face.

CART will not get bigger than F1 unless it moves to even more countries and gets better TV coverage.

It needs to run on the worlds best circuits which is something which will never happen as the FIA will only allow the F1 circuits to host F1 races.

If CART were to move away from being US centralised then it may have a chance, but until then its not likely to outgrow F1.

They would have to stop going round in circles before I'd even consider watching them

CART is a US sport with US sponsers cars and US based drivers.

F1 has leading World car makers involved in a big way and the latest news ties them in with F1 for many years now that they might part own F1.

For CART to topple F1 they must get more cash from their sponsers which is unlikly as the sponsers might not cough up as their market is in the US not worldwide. To get new sponsers they would have to poach them from F1.

Time will tell but I think it unlikly.

Formula One is my first love, but she is starting to bore me! Watching the CART race on the weekend (which was not one of their better shows)showed that there is definitly a Race Series which actually has wheel to wheel racing. Hell the only thing that Formula One holds for me right now is the technological marvels that are the Cars. But being so technically advanced i can't help but wonder if a driver is even necessary. Formula One has some of the best drivers in the world right now, but are they really testing themselves or are they afraid to go to a series like CART and prove themselves every Race weekend in what is a fairly even playing field. I'm starting to believe that the World Drivers Championship should be awarded to Gil deFerran. The competition he faced each weekend was probably a lot more intense than what Schumacher had.
I think that Ferrari can keep the Constructors Championship however because that is one helluva car, it's just too bad you can't RACE it!

Oh and Mr.Hunt, i'm not the biggest fan of ovals myself but your denying yourself something special if you don't at least watch CART on a road course or street circuit. Long Beach is coming up that is usually one of CART's best races.

CART will never get bigger than Formula One! Who was the blasphemic guy who said this???...Ken!!!...lol...just kidding. Have no fear...do you have an idea how many money there is in formula one? CART would take 10 years to get as big as Formula One is now. But you will see that F1 won't stop where it is now. Bernie will find new ways of makeing this business bigger!

Yes, if nobody complains nothing will happen.

F1 is a shadow of itīs glorious past. And it seems that too many fans ignore this or worse become unconvincing apologists.

Whether CART will overtake F1 or not I donīt know, but isnīt it shocking that the question even arises!!?

F1īs dignity, is still retrievable but for how long?

Well for me F1 is way bigger than cart, but which one is more exciting?, that's the real problem, a lot of people are complaining about the lack of overtaking and other exciting maneuvers in F1. I think some of the Cart races are really boring, but most of the F1 truly are.

I'm starting to move more towards CART but what we need in the UK is better TV coverage of the races. All we get them on is on Sky Sports and not even all of them are shown!

I don't follow CART with the same degree of interest as I watch F1. I suppose the fact is that CART have very few different chassis, and different engines, and its drivers are F1 has beens or wannabees. The fact that they run endless laps under the safety car doesn't help either.

I don't believe CART will overtake F1 -- at least not in the foreseeable future.

BUT . . . I do think as it gains more exposure in Europe, it will make inroads. That's all to the good if it forces Bernie and Company to effect the changes that will make Formula One a true racing series.
