It seems to have come about at around the same time as formula junior and with the same intentions. I have the very first issue of "Canada Track & Traffic" and it has an article by Bill Sadler on building cars for the Canada Class but gives no construction rules. He says that the cars are single seaters yet the car used to illustrate the article is my old car, the "Lucas Whitehead Climax Special" which is a two seater, full bodied sports racer! I will send this thread over to Tom Johnson, who literally wrote the book on Canadian racing, and see what he can tell us.

David is correct. Canada Class was a uniquely Canadian racing class that began in the 1950s. It was similar to Formula Junior (came a bit later) except that it allowed two seat sports cars as well as the single seaters of Formula Junior. I have the regulations for both classes if anyone would like them.
CC was quite popular for many years. The quality of the cars ranged from exceptional to, well, less so.
In my recent book Sports Car Road Racing in Western Canada, I report on a dozen or so specific cars.
Probably the most successful Canada Class car in Western Canada came from Edmonton, Alberta (is that where you are Edmonton) and was built by a young RCAF mechanic Jim Land.
Some other cars were DKW powered, Jim Fergusson's from Toronto, the Symbol from Regina, a Skoda powered device by Gordon Deane a dentist also from Edmonton.
There was quite a mixture of design solutions, front and rear engines, single and two seaters, BMC, Renault, DKW, Skoda, etc. motors.
By the late 1960s, SCCA classes ABC and Formula Ford pushed them out

John:
Thanks for your response, does that mean the shots have to be on a website so that the URL is used to access them? I have a website "http://www. harringtonphoto.ca" but the pages don't each have their own URL. By the way I am a working Professional photographer so am well aware of copyright issues
Thanks for any help you can provide
Bob

No, toes are intact, David; that was my next suggestion.

Great pics of these fascinating little cars. Completely new to me, I have to admit.
