Dust to Glory

My newest armchair companion is this DVD about the Baja 1000, and I think it's something I need to do! like an endurance race pilgramage in a Mexican spiritual desert-that'd clear the head with a try at 1000clicks in a VWbeetle! However-what does scare me is the thoughts of the accompanying insurance and border issues of a Canadian such as I putting in such a VWbeetle. I did hear however that a local high school had a car in last November's race, so if highschools can put a car in - maybe it can't be all that bad. I wish they did stuff like that when I was in highschool.......... :)

I haven't seen this film yet, I could kick myself for missing it in the theatre. I saw previews and was stunned at the quality.

I remember reading about the first races in National Geographic when I was a kid, and it still fascinates me. More challenging then the vehicle is the support structure needed.

I sat in stun while watching the previews too. Then, when I saw it in a magazine for sale I ordered it. You'll love it! I like the whole concept of it - true legends racing in the same race with anybodies for almost no money ($4,000.00)! They compare the race to life on this film -- so I guess there must be something to the saying "what matters most is the journey, not always being first" - something you don't hear much from racers - but refreshing in this film that you do.
