Bryan Miller 14 Nov 2003, 07:59 I have blundered , in between the line Called a BT35 Hart FVA , and AT 28-6-1973 , should be statedDavid Render reported in EX Spencer Elton.BT30.
Sorry Bryan.
Jeremy Jackson 14 Nov 2003, 09:41 Bryan,
If you can bear with me a few weeks, I did note Hawley's chassis back in 1972, but the information is 100 miles or so distant, and health issues are delaying me somewhat.
From memory (!), it's a single digit chassis no. - before reading this wonderful thread, I would have said BT35-8, but obviously not.
Bryan Miller 14 Nov 2003, 10:54 Jeremy.
No problem, I wasn't even thinking in regard to ch.no. at the moment, just the trails and how many cars Dave Render had, from what I have read it could be two or three.
Depends whether the 29X is being called a 30 sometimes and a 29x the next , or if we are talking two sep. idents, apart from the 35.
Regards Bryan.
Bryan Miller 15 Nov 2003, 10:50 David Renders two cars , BT29X/30 and BT35 .
I made a hash of it last time , so I wished to get them both sorted.
BT29X[Y]/BT30 . I don't believe anybody has yet come up with a ch.no. for this yet.If so I've missed it.
New to Tony Griffiths as a FB with an FVC , reported written off at Silverstone and rec'd a BT30 [ chassis , whole car ???? }.
Retained into at least mid 1970.
To Spencer Elton 18-2-1971 , and reported fitting BDA ,p.4.
T o David Render , reported in car A/S. 28-6-1973 , as ex Elton. p.47.
Render reported in ex Griffiths Brabham , A/S. 7-3-1974 p49.
Render now reported in BT29X, a/s. 11-4-1974.
Confusion reigns in A/S . as Render reported in ex. Hawley BT29 .
Render still has car 6-3-1975.A/S. p.50.
By 15-4-1976 a/s. P.50 , Render has obtained JPS Type 76 , but note states still has his two Brabhams, but intends to sell his BT29.
Advert for sale BT29X , which states car is hillclimb version of BT30. A/S. 6-5-1976 p.65.
At 16-9-1976, still retains BT29X.

Regards Bryan. Much as I love this thread, it's not one I can help much. However, I did find this in my notes on the British Sprint Championship and offer it in case you haven't already spotted it:
David Render used a BT29X at the Curborough round 20 April 1974 (Autosport 25 Apr 1974 p48) and this was later said to be ex-Hawley (AS 9 May 1974 p53). At the South Cerney round 28 April 1974 (AS 9 May 1974 p56), he used an ex-Tony Harrison 1.6-litre BT35-Hart BDA.

allenbrown 15 Nov 2003, 16:33 That will teach me to refresh before posting!
John Turner 13 Mar 2006, 11:01 A short series of posts, split off from the Brabham BT28-29-30-35-36 thread.
Andrew Fellowes 24 Mar 2006, 04:39 At 28-6-1973 , reported in BT30 ex. Spencer Elton.
Ted has reminded me that Spencer Elton had BT30-8, same car perhaps? I don't have any other claims in 1972 or 1973 for #8. Prior to that recorded for sale with Bob Howlings 9/12/71 A/S.
Steve Wilkinson 24 Mar 2006, 10:08 I have Render in BT35-35 and he is still running the car in early 1976 prior to the Lotus being ready.
There are no entries or appearances of either Brabham in the British Sprint championship after 1976, in fact Render never ran the 'BT29X' in the British Sprint Championship concentrating on the BT35.
Andrew Fellowes 24 Mar 2006, 22:25 :s I didn't read Bryans' post above carefully enough, written off at Silverstone is a qualified remark and could mean repaired, which means that Spencer Elton would have had both the ex Griffiths car and the ex Tommy Reid car very nearly at the same time?
Andrew Fellowes 20 Apr 2006, 23:35 At 28-6-1973 , reported in BT30 ex. Spencer Elton.

Not quite right on two counts,
1. It wasn't a BT30, it was BT29X. (not much of a surprise there!)
2. It wasn't Spencer's, it was his Dad's. (a fine line I guess)
I spoke to David Render yesterday, and he did buy the BT29X from Spencer but when Spencer's father found out he tried to reverse the deal!
I asked if he had ever had a BT30 and the answer after a couple of moments thought was 'No'. Perhaps I should have been more careful & asked if he had ever driven a BT30 but as he went on to say his 29X was the hill climb version of a BT30, I am fairly confident that the answer would have still have been no.
I don't think any of this is a surprise, but its nice to hear it direct! What was also nice was that clearly he enjoyed chatting about old times as much as I did listening,
My thanks to David Render.
