Morris to go drifting again!!!Razor 5 Apr 2006, 05:40 I just saw on his website that Paul Morris is re entring the Aussie National Drift Series. Sounds good, he has got talent to do good drifts and smoking tyres. Quannie 5 Apr 2006, 05:47 what is he driving? is it an SS? Rob 18 5 Apr 2006, 10:23 Just hope on all his runs they let him start at the front, God knows what he could do if he trys to pass the car in front.....They will spend the next 1/2 hour cleaning up all the fibreglass!!! Razor 5 Apr 2006, 10:40 He didn't go to badly at the Oran Park round of the Series. As for his ca, I think he is using one of his Simmoet/HPDC cars GTRMagic 5 Apr 2006, 11:26 The team is building a drift car from a Commodore shell... more power, more durability, more suitability than a circuit racer... Razor 5 Apr 2006, 11:33 Is he going to use the norm V8, a supercharged 7.0L or a V8 TEGA spec 5.0L? GTRMagic 5 Apr 2006, 11:44 The press release Here (http://www.paulmorris.com.au/news.php?page=news_item_2006_05) doesnt say, but the PMM team owner suggested the 650bhp school car was ".. underpowered.." :rotate: Razor 5 Apr 2006, 11:54 yeah, most V8's in the drift series have round about 700 to 800 BHP GTRMagic 5 Apr 2006, 11:59 An unrestricted Nations Cup spec 7.0L Monaro engine would get 750bhp... whether the rev range would suit drifting might be an interesting discussion point... BigDaddy 5 Apr 2006, 12:04 It is refreshing to see the drfting topic being discussed. I have spent some time debating the need for at least a Drifting thread in one of the forums, it has been placed in the National & Club Racing forum GTRMagic 5 Apr 2006, 12:09 It can live here as long as it is relevant to the Australian motorsport arena, and stays on topic... if it drifts away (boom boom) from the original subject... it may not survive... racer69 5 Apr 2006, 12:10 You would think Morris would be busy trying to get his V8Supercar competitive....... BigDaddy 5 Apr 2006, 12:11 Thanks GTR, I am happy to hear that dude67 5 Apr 2006, 12:12 stroked 454 small block chev. 600 hp .Carby no EFI. Holinger box .IRS. No frills drift Machine.Should be ready for testing in 2 weeks. BigDaddy 5 Apr 2006, 12:14 There is a drift practice day at Winton on April 16th, it is being held by VicDrift. The prices are reasonable and perfect for anyone who wants to get involved. GTRMagic 5 Apr 2006, 12:18 You would think Morris would be busy trying to get his V8Supercar competitive....... It is competitive, just not all the time... thats the challenge :) HRT433 5 Apr 2006, 13:19 yeah, most V8's in the drift series have round about 700 to 800 BHP lol...there are only two (at the moment anyway) 850HP Hankook Monaro 1000+HP CAPA Ute Both beasts belong to Robbie Bolger, and were put together with a little assistance from the dude himself, so I think its fitting for him to join the fun. kosher_pig 5 Apr 2006, 13:37 but no more drifting at Calder Park too many thickheaded Ginos not doing as they are told Dirk 5 Apr 2006, 13:42 I was of the opinion that the Monaro ran a Perkins V8, could be wrong though. HRT433 5 Apr 2006, 15:45 I was of the opinion that the Monaro ran a Perkins V8, could be wrong though. not sure where the engine comes from, but it is fairly similar to the engines that were in the GRM Nations Cup Monaros I think dude67 5 Apr 2006, 23:49 bolgers Monaro runs a ex ex gibson motorsport supercar engine stroked to 6.0 litre. Razor 6 Apr 2006, 00:14 Bolgers Hankook Moanaro uses a PMM devloped Chev 18 degree engine stroked to 7.0 liters, and runs Gibson heads and is supercharged. dude67 6 Apr 2006, 12:24 The engine was built by Craig hastead using old gibson injection .It is not Blown. The ute has a blown LS1 . HDTLE 6 Apr 2006, 23:51 Me will be cheering for the dude in the drifts !! Give that jap crap a lesson !! Who said you cant drift a HOLDEN - go show them dude ! Shazza 7 Apr 2006, 17:06 The engine was built by Craig hastead using old gibson injection .It is not Blown. The ute has a blown LS1 . Is it too late for someone to sponsor my VN saloon for the Mallala drift meeting? I have a spare supercharger Guest 7 Apr 2006, 17:09 Why not put your sponsorship on ebay, seems to be a common thing these days Guest 7 Apr 2006, 17:11 If you do, put a link on here, who knows I might put some bids in! Shazza 7 Apr 2006, 17:18 Yeah I thought of Ebay, I spend so much on there that the karma should earn me some sponsorship LOL. I need tyres... Guest 7 Apr 2006, 17:28 Good luck with it all. I am not a huge fan of drifting, but it is motorsport so I guess I will walk across the street to see it. :) Shazza 7 Apr 2006, 17:43 I've never tried drifting, but it looks like fun. I think I will stick to circuit racing for now (still on my CAMS P plates, should be L plates). ;) Razor 8 Apr 2006, 02:57 My Dad and I used to do drifting at my Uncle's farm in my cousion's bush basher V8 Ford. I tried it once at my old home (I used to live on an old telstra block that now my other uncle owns) and I locked up the brakes coming out of a drift and almost smashed the fence and the front of my car. Need to get ceramic disc brakes for the rear instead of using drums. Anyway, did you know our own HRT 433 did a paint scheme for the CAPA Ute and even got into Street Machine with them images. HRT433 8 Apr 2006, 03:29 Anyway, did you know our own HRT 433 did a paint scheme for the CAPA Ute and even got into Street Machine with them images. Yes, tis true...I did numerous concepts for the ute, only for them to change their mind at the last minute and go with something completely different. Also spent numerous hours meeting deadlines for the Monaro as well...only for the same thing to happen... ....I'm not bitter....much... Razor 8 Apr 2006, 08:23 Well mate, still got the images and templates? Guest 8 Apr 2006, 11:51 Drifting on a farm? On dirt? Thats not drifting and I think if I were a drifter I would be offended that you call that drifting and not "circle work" BigDaddy 8 Apr 2006, 12:22 The drift scene in Victoria needs a bit of boost, some high profile drivers like Paul Morris would help. I wonder if Cam McConville would give it a go?? kmsport 8 Apr 2006, 13:03 Rusty looked good for it at the final round at PI Mark Twain 8 Apr 2006, 17:53 I am sure a Queenslander would be good to boost the Victorian Drifting scene. Mark Twain 8 Apr 2006, 17:55 Drifting on a farm? On dirt? Thats not drifting and I think if I were a drifter I would be offended that you call that drifting and not "circle work" I think Paddock Bashing would be a more appropriate label for this behaviour. Rombles1 9 Apr 2006, 12:58 I am sure a Queenslander would be good to boost the Victorian Drifting scene. He's a known name, thats got to help at least a little bit. I'd be more likely to go to the drifting at Mallala if he is there than if he isn't. BigDaddy 10 Apr 2006, 01:25 Yeah Rusty would be good but for it to work you would need someone local. Rusty would not want to travel to victoria for drift event 6 or so times a year. Adam Ronke 16 Apr 2006, 13:21 We had a drift day at Winton Raceway today, it was a great day. 42 cars and a heap of spectators. Was a great success. It was interesting to see Truscott, get knocked out early, Fink 4th, Drift Cat 3rd, some fella from Insane Drifters "Hi" I think his name was, came second. Alex from Garage 13 won the day. |
