As above really, as i recall he murdered the opposition in French F3 B class, in 02, then couldn't even get a drive anywhere in 03, it seems a shame because the guy obviously had some real talent about him, i assume it was lack of money that stopped him rather than him turning his back on the sport.

Hmm... not a name I can honestly say stuck in my mind.
Seems he went on to be Formula X Sportscar champion in 2004:

Though looking at his F3 results, he seemed unimpressive in his 2001 Spanish F3 part-season (blown away by teammate and champion Ander Vilarino, and replacement Daniel Martin got much better results). The French F3 B-class opposition looked very weak, with a certain Nicolas Lapierre outperforming Poron in his one class outing. Results don't always tell the whole story of course, so it may be unfair for me to judge him on them, when I confess I know nothing about him...

I have to honestly say that he was one of the worst drivers we ever had. If not the worst. No real talent, couldn't talk to an engineer and spent most of his time running around saying stupid things. He even had an accident in the pit lane AFTER the race in Estoril when he hit the car in front. He was an extreme disappointment. I have no idea how he did in other championships, but I could win it as well if I had no opposition either.

The real question is - what prompted cds_uk to ask the question in the first place - and why the glowing accolade?????

It's ten-tenths. The majority of the forum is populated by fans/friends/relatives of Driver X, with a very small % of people who possibly work in the sport. Im referring to this section of the forum, not the site at large.
Obviously i stand corrected on this, i just remember looking in Autocourse at the F3 results and saw that Poron easily won the French B title back in 02, it just struck me as odd that he fell off the face of the planet after that, i have no connection to Poron in any way, i was just curious as to why a guy who won a title could not get a drive the following year.

I think that's what I was hinting at. But cds_uk says not
