Was down the Gold Coast today, and did a few laps of the track....i think that place is just amazing, i love, can't wait for the race to hit town.
One thing i noticed when going up down to the Coast from here (Brisbane) that just about all of the barriers are being used to line the freeways road works. I wonder if they are going to have a heap of new fences this year, a lot of them looked pretty second hand.
The one thing about the Gold Coast is that it doesn't flog the race at all. There is no promotion or flogging it with with everything named "indy" or "cart". Sure some of the kerbs are left in place, but nobody really seems to care that the race is even happening. I guess i just thought that if your city had such a major event, it make something out of it for the rest of the year. It's almost as if the place could do with out it, but i guess that is just the nature of the place. I love it.
