Friday testers lead way as several save running

First news i've seen is Wurz was quickest in session one.

MS only did 4 laps but still did a good time?

Several drivers sat it out including Alonso and Montoya (are both on second race engines?), so would it be reasonable to suggest they are saving engine mileage?

Kimi, however did run, presumably for the opposite reasons to his teammate and check out the new spec engine.

Williams look very quick here, even taking into consideration it was the third driver, 3 tenths faster than Davidson has to be a good sign...

They always seem to go pretty well there, so you never know.

One of the car to grid first 3 rows and a possible podium, reliability pending?......

Quite possibly chunterer, they're overdue a podium after a promising start to the season.

The overall pattern of the Fridays is becoming very familiar now, it doesn't seem like a great deal for the paying public to see so few laps from the race drivers. I don't know if the Friday prices have generally gone down, or if there tend to be more support races, but overall the package isn't a strong from a spectating point of view.

Well 2nd practice finished 20mins ago and Wurz was fastest by over 9 tenths of a second.

Wurz was 9/10ths quicker than 'anyone' else in 2nd session...we all know whats that a 'good sign' of. Hahaha

I think he is worth of a seat in Williams for 2007.

I don't, no disrespect meant to Alex, but it's one thing being quick on low fuel sims but another pushing all the time over a race situation which he's been out of for too long.

If he was going to get another race gig it would've been with Jag/Red Bull. I think he's resigned to this fact now.

Are you suggesting that a Friday runner may be setting a time? Surely not, or maybe it is that Williams is the sort of team that likes to set times?

Anyway it does bode well for Williams, to a certain extent.

For Wurz? Well he has now spent too long as a third driver and it is a long time since we saw him wheel to wheel with Michael at Monaco. Or even a long time since he claimed an F1 podium. People's perception, rightly or wrongly, won't change now.

Well, he got a podium in his last race of course! I thought he did OK when he stood in for Juan Pablo at Imola. He could do a good job if he got a race drive, but it's too late in the day now one suspects...

The McLaren's look well rubbish thus far.....handling problems on both cars.

I just read the driver's quotes and I note that Nico reportedly made more laps than as as usual. Is this an indication that Williams will indeed do engine changes tomorrow and take the 10 grid penalty?

Well the Speed commentators stated that both Williams drivers expressed a desire to run more laps.

And it's good to see Albers up in P12, he has been showing some excellent pace this season thus far.

Yeah they're not the only ones!
It's been tough being a Williams supporter this year, you hardly see them on Friday and Saturday morning, one of them will have a reasonable qualy and then it's total anonimity unless they crash or blow-up during the race

Crazy 2 race engine rule!
