FIM Winners Game ---> France

Round 5 of the Summer Cup.

Another opportunity for SALEEN's exhibition :) .

This is the middle point of Summer Cup. After France there will be four races and then, after GP GBR we will start the Autumn Cup with GP GER.

Probably Rossi would like to have also a fresh start of the season in GP GER...

Rules are:

----------------------------------------------

Object of the game:
You have to guess the winner. You can put one, two, three or four riders as winners.

Scoring:
If you put one rider and he wins, you get 4 points.
If you put two two riders and one of them wins, you get 3 points.
In case you put 3 names and one wins, you get 2.5 points.
If you choose to put four names, and one of them wins, you get 2 points.
If you fail to guess the winner, you get 0 points.

Time limit:
Guesses can be done until one hour before the first race (125, 250 or MotoGP, whatever it is). Usually it will be one hour before 125 race.

Remarks:
Every FIM GP three guesses can be entered: for 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP. Those are three differents games, so you can enter only one or two categories if you like.

Appart from the three classifications (125, 250 and MotoGP), I'll put a "global" classification adding all of them.

The key of the game is to predict the winner putting the least possible numbers of candidates. But if you put too few riders, you risk getting 0 points!

There will be two separate championships: Summer Cup until mid season and Autumn Cup in the second part of the season.

In case of tie, it is ahead who has better score in the last round, then in the second last round, etc. If still there is a tie in "Total" category, it is ahead who has more points in MotoGP, then in 250cc. Finally, if all of that fails, it is ahead who has guess earlier in the last round (and here we cannot tie anymore!).

Example:

Let's suppose in Jerez you put the following guesses and the real winners are Simoncelli, Angelis and Rossi:
125 = Simoncelli, P.Nieto, Lai (you get 2.5 points for Simoncelli)
250 = Porto, Dovizioso (you get 0 point, you failed)
MotoGP = Gibernau, Rossi (you get 3 points for Rossi)

Good fun for everybody... even for beau1! ;)

Resistance is futile, forget any hopes you have of winning the predictions championship. SALEEN will win. :death:

Really looking forward to this weekends races, should be interesting to see if Rossi and Yamaha can sort out the chatter problems and get back near the front. If they can it will certainly make things a lot easier to predict I think.

On a slightly differnt note I would like to take this opportunity to thank Schummy for volunteering his time to run this predictions championship, I have run a few small predictions championships in the past myself and I know how much time and effort it requires. :)

Lol

Yes, I have abandoned any hopes for first position. But beware of BOTTY, he is not happy about this situation, and he is not scared by :death:, he is just software in a tin box.

PS: Go on sending that money through paypal, and I will continue to edit your guesses after races.

I'm sorry my Postscript line in my former post could unfairly damage the reputation of an innocent: when I was speaking about money for reediting guesses, I was meaning SALEEN and not BOTTY. BOTTY is innocent of all this; he was furious and PMed me asking for a clarification.
:p

I gladly accept the winners laurels for this weekends event :)

Both Hazza and I saw Mike Di Meglio 1 second faster in the morning warm-up, but makes you realise that grid position is still so important

Dani Filth
23 May 2006, 07:59
morning warm-up was wet though .. the race wasnt :)

Schummy
23 May 2006, 12:33
There are riders who are not hugely worried about warm up times (or even qualifying times), so things are more confusing than we would like.

Grid positions are less significant in bike racing than in car racing, because starting speed are often very disimilar in bikes and they can pass easily.

Very often we see people in the last rows overtaking tons of people in the first lap (for example Elias in Le Mans). It makes forecasting even more dificult.

There are some riders who "like" to surprise people in race days. Rossi, for example, no matter how bad are his training times, he can pop at the top of the race eventually. Lorenzo is another "variable" rider, superfast but surprising in both ways. In the other side, Poggiali is a joy to predict, no surprise at all ;)

Of course all this are just excuses to justify our collective lack of prowess guessing winners ;)

23 May 2006, 12:36

One of my friends described Capirossi as "The guy who looks sorta like a rat", hence, "The Rat".

And last but not least DePuinet phonetically sounds like "The Pwn" so, he is the The Pwn

Biaggi is "the invisible man". He races in FIM GPs and nobody can see him in the grid, in the race or even in the pits.

Sometimes I intuit he is somewhere there, but then I realize it is little Mamola jumping around.
