Hello ten-tenths,
This is my first real post in nearly two (2) years, and now I am free again to make whatever comment I feel appropriate. :)
I've been keeping an active interest in young Australians competing internationally for the last three and a half years (it was my job) and have come across a driver that is currently competing as an Australian.
Charlie Noble-Mundin
His results have been non-existent, but I'm interested to know his background.
Can anyone fill me in?
Regards,
Cam
He's currently competing in the Formula BMW (UK) Championship with Michael Patrizi.
I have no idea whether he is actually from Australia, and am interested to know how he could be listed as an Australian without an Australian competition licence.
Surely it would be his passport/place of birth that would determin his nationality? I personally haven't heatd of him but I'll see if anything is dug up...
bobblehat 22 May 2006, 13:22 What I have been told is that Charlie, did very well in his exams - got a lot of A levels - and his parents paid for him to do a season of F BMW as a reward. I belive that he has no karting experiance at all, I guess he must of been revising!
Acording to our driver Tom, he is a pleasent chap who is very much enjoying himself, even if he is at the back.
Bobblehat,
Thanks for the info.
I assumed as much, without wanting to sound rude he seems to be the new Rob Nguyen but without the natural talent.

Sultan,
In international motor sport (aside from FORMULA 1 and the WRC) a driver takes his/her country of origin from the ASN that issues his/her competition licence.
We may as well claim him, and bump our international numbers up one more.
:)
sceptic 22 May 2006, 22:12 He's from Perth apparently.
I did like his media profile though. He describes his interests as "cycling and girls."
JohnMiller 23 May 2006, 08:30 Do you think his parents would adopt?
Steven English 6 Jun 2006, 14:29 He's originally from Perth but has lived over here for years now. He's not done any karting and his first experience of racing was the FBMW License Course in Valencia in 2004. He did the course again in '05 and started racing this year.
Considering how difficult it is to get on the pace of the guys at the front, I think he's doing well to be within a couple of seconds, considering his lack of experience. He's a good bloke, too. Big up Charlie!

Absolutely. I saw him being interviewed for TV at the weekend, so I suspect we will find out a lot more about him when that gets shown.
bobblehat 6 Jun 2006, 20:32 Totaly agree with you Steven a realy top bloke. I ended up pushing his car out of the "park ferme" as there was no one else to help him! I asked if he enjoyed himself. "No I realy whanted to go home!" he said with a huge grin, he had lost some parts of the front wing and a recoveing Tom Dunstan past him even tho a lap down. No down force and no grip so he was not having a lot fun........
