Anyone have any experiences with 1:18 diecasts from a company called Revell? What is the quality like? Any good?

Well the postman has been and my 1:18 Revell Porsche 917 has arrived (1970 LM winner) Quality is pretty good for the price and I was thinking what to compare it to. I was going to say it was comparible to the Universl Hobbies car and then I noticed the label on it's base that said... Universal Hobbies. So it was presumably produced by them and packaged as Revell for whatever reason.

Anyway, for the reference of anyone searching for 'Revell' in the future, it's pretty good value for money.

I've got a Revell 1:43 Audi A4 super tourer and it's not too bad, about the same as the Onyx models really (price wasn't an issue as it was an ebay special!)

Your 1970 model, does it have any opening parts or is all closed up? The ones I saw at this years LM were all closed, and I would really like the discontinued AutoArt one with opening bits, (no sniggering at the back please).

Hi Allon, regret that the Universal Hobbies/Revell cars are SEALED.

I've never really understood the drama about them being sealed but, having admired my last two purchases, I am growing to appreciate the sentiment... :) Though it'd not stop me buying a car on protest (a number of people who I have spoken to refuse to buy the Bentley and Champion Audi cars, for example, when they are otherwise beautifully produced models.
