Hi guys,

I'm not a follower of MotoGP at the moment but I've been told that BMW Motorrad are entering a team next year.

As a MotoGP novice I was wondering what the rumours and facts are regarding this.

I do believe they will get into MotoGP, the question is when. They have hired Jeremy Mcwilliams as a testrider and he has been quoted that the thing is fast. So that would mean that BMW have already prepared a bike, but I haven't seen any pictures yet.

Well there are pictures of something testing. What that something is has been pure speculation. Or at least, that is what I've read.

I seem to remember hearing about this last year. I definitely remember hearing about Jeremy McWilliams being involved in it.

Ah yes, look, a photo:

F1 car engine-builders Ilmor also seem to have an 800cc prototype out on test, it seems.

Hmmm I thought I read somewhere that BMW were not going to be a part of the MotoGP show next year.

I will have to remember where I read about it, and dig it out.

Yeah, I think Toby Moody said it in one of his columns on the Crash website.

It'd be strange if BMW wasn't planning to come into MotoGP next year when the rules change and everyone is on level-ish terms, but I guess delaying their arrival for an extra year gives them an extra year of testing away from the heat of competition and one less year of potentially being thrashed by a better-prepared opposition.

I could have been on crash.net but I thought it might have been in the latest issue of twowheels or even AMCN. I went looking for them, but looks like the mrs has turfed them out. :hair:

This is an extract from Toby Moody's current column on crash.net:

...the Illien/Suter bike at Silverstone last Wednesday. Suter, riding, said the bike was spot on schedule for its first test. They are still aiming for wild-card rides at Portugal and Valencia later this year...

Does anybody have any pictures?

Yeah, thats what Ryder said.

Also McWilliams is doing it, and it is definate, the quote was something like "Don't ask me about BMW because you know I can't say anything"

Anyone notice that the two wildcard venues are some of the tightest, and least horsepower intensive tracks? Helloooooo 800cc...
