Yankee SVT 13 Apr 2001, 23:13 Pardon me if its been asked before, however it seemed like a good idea at the time!
Iam from the boring state of Utah, USA. I drive a FORD contour SVT that's a Mondie ST version for the rest of you!
Welcome Yankee SVT.
Never mind if it's been asked before, I'm happy to answer it again.
I'm from the Netherlands and when I'm not driving the Lamborghini, I'm trying to wear down my Suzuki Sedan 1.6 16-valve.
Hi Yankee,
I'm from West Sussex UK
Whilst the Ferrari 250LM is in for a service I drive a Nissan 200SX.
I also find the new fangled speed bumps in most of our minor roads in the UK tend to damage the 250LM plus the stupid 70mph speed limit means it is still in 1st gear. So to keep it safe, it is wrapped in cotten wool securely garaged in my dreams.

Minardi fan 15 Apr 2001, 00:40 I'm from Warwickshire in lovely England, and I would like to drive a Mini, a Morris Minor, a Beetle, or an M02. Ta.
Minardifan, my man; Let me know when you are ready to buy a Mini. After 33 shining examples, I've had more than any one man should legally be permitted to own in a single lifetime, and I've worked on the blasted things for over 15 years. Guess you could say I know them well. (And then some)
PS - Do NOT get a beetle... :(
Anyways, I currently reside in chilly Suffolk, in East Anglia, England, and I own a '71 Mini 1000 desperately pretending to be an old Mini Cooper S, a partially rebuilt Bright Yellow tube-framed '72 Escort RS2000 replica, and a 1990 Vauxhall Carlton Land Yacht, affectionally known as 'Uncle Navy' to the Yates-Speed race team.
elephino 15 Apr 2001, 07:28 Australia and I drive a Nissan Pulsar SSS (with a very nice 2.0L engine and really bad tyres. Though that will be changing next week).
Hi Yankee, and welcome.
I live in Brazil, and I have a 99 GM Blazer 2.8 Diesel.
G'day Yankee,
I also live in Australia and drive a '98 Ford Falcon V8
mtpanorama 15 Apr 2001, 15:35 g'day yankee,
I live in Australia,Bathurst actually and drive a Ford Falcon XR6.
Eliphino, Need new tyres?, I can reccomend yokohama a539.Best tyres i ever had
tickfordchick 15 Apr 2001, 16:56 hmmm ... I am impressed by some of the cars my fellow Aussies are driving ... make me look bad, though!! ;)
I live in the Blue Mountains of NSW, Australia (not too far from mtpanorama, actually) and drive a Ford 1988 EA Fairmont Ghia ... and I LOVE it!! :D
Welcome Yankee, Another Aussie here from Melbourne.
Recently my bid (of $1) fell through on my Porsche so I'm slumming it in the mean time with a Subaru WRX. Don't know what they're called in US though.
Happy posting :)
elephino 16 Apr 2001, 13:17 mtpanorama, I was getting them anyway :) I was to get them on Saturday, but they didn't have any in my size so that is why I am getting them next weekend.
AMoffat 16 Apr 2001, 13:35 Yankee,
Like Howdy,
I'm from way down south, where the Banjo's play through the broken glass...
Coffs Harbour NSW Australia
I, like my fellow Australians of good taste drive a Ford '96 Fairmont. When I drive.
Usual transport is a BMW K1100RS motorcycle.
Don't tell EERO, but my wife was thinking of replacing the Ford. Before I choked the last breathe from her ungrateful body she said she had the desire to drive a Golf!
These things come from the home of Ralf himself!
But doctor, what does this mean?
Welcome Yankee,
I am living in Tulsa, Oklahoma and currently drive a Ford Focus ZX3.
I'm from Oregon, and I drive a (brace yourself) '92 Dodge Caravan... When I havent "borrowed" my parents Subaru Forester 2.5.... talk about contrast!
I am from Canada's Capital and I drive a bycicle! :D
riusnow 17 Apr 2001, 03:58 AAAAhhhhh, another American!
I live in southern New Hampshire on the Massachussetts border not far from the coast. I drive a '96 Toyota Tacoma 4x4. I don't know if this counts, but I also have a 2000 Ski Doo MXZ 600 and a '85 Suzuki Quadracer 250. That's a snowmobile and all terrain vehicle for those confused or unfortunate to live in a place where the snow does not fly.
Rip It Up.....Wooooooo!
:) :)
elephino 17 Apr 2001, 12:59 Moff, when you were talking about good taste I thought you meant the bike :)
Ford Fairmont or Golf...hmm...Can I buy something else instead?
AMoffat 17 Apr 2001, 13:35 The winds of change have shifted..
Now a Forrester has the seal of approval.
I say keep the Ford, it's a man's car!
mtpanorama 17 Apr 2001, 13:44 Moff, if a forester has caught the eye, take her to the local ford dealer and show her the escape. Ive driven one and if i had to oiwn a car of that nature this would be hte one . 150kw v6 and has all the creature comforts
AMoffat 17 Apr 2001, 14:01 And it has the right badge on the bonnet
plus,
I am after all a creature of comfort
Go with the Subbie Moff, but get the GT, or the WReX :)
I live near Detroit Michigan and since Dec I drive a Ford Escape. Previously I had a Ford Explorer. The Escape is great for everything but serious off-roading. Handles much better and a better ride than the Explorer due to all around independent suspenders.
Anyone is welcome to come over for a test drive.
It would be misleading to state that I have experience driving many different cars (Laxman and I have different philosophies here... ;) ) but the Subie Forester is a lot of fun to drive.... I did take it around some gravel roads with extreme prejudice out in Eastern Oregon, and it certainly did the business!!! (Of course, I did that in the Caravan too, but the results were not as pleasant...(a lot of body work, and a different colored hood!!) btw, It (the Forester) doesn't come with a V6 ... all Subarus have boxer engines, and the 6 is only available on the posh Outbacks... and they are way to heavy anyway.
elephino 18 Apr 2001, 13:11 Well I went for a test drive of a WRX..shame had some people looking at a Forester following so I couldn't give it a good run (and the salesman was in the car too).
Don't forget to play Mazda and Ford off each other as the Mazda Tribute is essentially identical.

RickP:Clio51 18 Apr 2001, 15:57 Hi there American cousin,
I live in London, I drive a '95 911 (993) Carrera with the RSR front spoiler and 18 inch Turbo wheels on the road.
The track stable currently consists purely of French cars
Renault 5 GT Turbo 150bhp
Renault Clio 172 185bhp (2 of 'em)
and
Renault Clio V6 285bhp
Because of the ground clearance, none of them are particularly good off road except the Clio 172s...
Cheers
RickP
Nice pic, Rick
Elephino, you are right about the Mazda Tribute. In fact, if I had it to do over I would consider it over the Ford because it has a slightly more taut suspension and I like the slight styling differences.
However, in Detroit, in my business, it doesnt hurt to drive a blue oval badge.
AMoffat 18 Apr 2001, 16:18 Niel,
It never hurts to drive a Blue Oval Badge...
Says me,
Who is spending his time hand rubbing back a Mazda 626
Hans.ca 18 Apr 2001, 16:35 We have two vehicles in the family. A 92 Jetta that is driven by both of us and I have a 92 Ford F150 extended cab 4x4 truck with a cap on it. Its mayor attraction is that it will get me out of any trouble when I'm off hunting. Its mayor drawback is the gasoline drinking V8 engine in it. Last year's hunting trip up north was 4021 km of driving, it took 803.42 liters of gas and that cost was 639.01 can $.
But when I needed it the 4x4 got me out of trouble.
Toronto, Canada, and I drive a 1973 Ferrari Dino GTS; my second car, a Lamborghini Shadow, is at the bottom of Peter Mallet's Swimming Pool. Ask Bluebottle.

riusnow 19 Apr 2001, 05:07 Rick P: that's SWEET! Now that's what I call EXTREME!
RickP:Clio51 19 Apr 2001, 09:02 Car has a limited slip diff in it, so there is no real advantage to having all the wheels on the ground through a corner if you can carry more speed by cutting...
Anyway, that's not extreme, this is extreme...
(This next pic isn't me, but rest assured I saw that sort of angle as well...)
RickP:Clio51 19 Apr 2001, 09:03 Sorry, topic got a bit hijacked.
My apologies
RickP
robert2000 19 Apr 2001, 10:35 That's incredible! Its a really big angle
[further off topic]
Reminds me of a crosswind landing I made in a Cessna 152 some years back. Fortunately it was at an unstaffed airport in Wisconsin so there is no photographic proof that it ever happened.
In fact, it never happened, OK?

Ray Bell 20 Apr 2001, 01:38 I share my living between Murrumburrah and Burpengary, with the former seeing more of me than the latter at the moment. But shortly I'll be heading for somewhere like Windaroo, it seems, with more work turning up for me close by there, and it looks like a decent place to live.
Driving frequently between the two, I naturally use my Peugeot 504 station wagon... or the Familiale version... I have a fleet of them, and dreams of putting my Jolus 203 on the road one day...

RickP, that's not only extreme, that's PHAT- with a P H!
Valve Bounce 3 May 2001, 07:12 Ilive in Brisbane Australia, and I drive Volvo V70 AWD (not the Cross Country).
AMoffat, if you are going to look at a Forrester, why not check out the V70 AWD?
I live in Ontario, Canada, drive a 1996 GMC Jimmy, 2000 Hyundai Tiburon, and a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette.
Talk about diversity!
Sonatrap 6 May 2001, 04:26 I´m English I live in Cali, Colombia and I drive a 72 Mustang Mach 1.
(My wife would probably disagree with the above statement because I often help myself to her car - a Subaru Legacy- because it does miles to the gallon and not gallons to the mile!)
