Minicross424 22 Aug 2006, 19:07 Well done all at semsec last weekend.
Another well run meeting and some exciting races.
Bad luck to Stu Bayliss and the beetle (it caught fire!) and i hope hes back soon.
Anyone know what happened to Mr Rooney in the second race?
col rooney 23 Aug 2006, 11:53 Hi minicross my gearbox broke going up the hill i wonder if it was on the way in race one and that is what spat me off at the end of the straight .All i knew was i went from 5th to 4th and next thing i was side ways .I hope to have it back to do brands and i hope the bettle is back as well we need more old style car it make for good close racing
Minicross424 23 Aug 2006, 17:28 Sorry to hear that col.
I thought you had spun on the oil the beetle was dropping.
I wont be at Brands im raceing at the barc round at lydden instead.
col rooney 23 Aug 2006, 18:33 I was going to race with barc but thet changed the regs and dont allow rear engined cars race so i will stay with semsec as i enjoy the club side of things
Upside Down Bug 23 Aug 2006, 19:49 Hi guys
I thought it was a classic semsec meeting. Great variety of cars with some very competitive racing. I have to say I think 424 was cruel to set fire to the Beetle!!!!
There were also several freinds and family there as the meeting was held in Nikki's memory. One group came from a car club in Norfolk, and they described it as one of the best days motorsport they had been to recently.
So, who's coming to the SEMSEC event at Brands on 9th September? Even if you aren't racing I know they would really appreciate the help with marshalling.
peter thurston 23 Aug 2006, 21:21 Providing some customers pay me soon I will be there.I really wanted to do lydden but funds would not allow. So who did what anyway!!pete
col rooney 23 Aug 2006, 21:45 Yes if im not able to race i will do some marshalling no problem
col rooney 23 Aug 2006, 21:47 oh yes pete you better get that escort a bigger engine mister knox stiletto was flying and he lapped in a 42.883 so should make for more close racing
djinvicta 23 Aug 2006, 22:32 42 secs!!!!!! Pete eats that for brekky. Yes, if he can get to Brands on the 9th, the entry IS paid. He knows that. Shame Im lolling in France at the time.
peter thurston 23 Aug 2006, 22:35 Thats me beat then as I did only a 43.8 when I was much younger!!
djinvicta 23 Aug 2006, 22:40 Keep it in a straight line, (he doesnt know how), the classic overtake down the inside at Paddock frightens even the 4 wheel drive racer. New boots, no contest..
djinvicta 23 Aug 2006, 22:43 Plus; It isnt the engine that matters; its the Nob Boxes and bigguns that count.
Upside Down Bug 23 Aug 2006, 22:52 Oh please gentleman, play nicely.
It will be great to see you Pete, and as for Mr DJ skiving in France!!!!
Mr Knox is getting very quick round Lydden and paddock bend doesn't seem to scare him at all, spining twice during the day!
djinvicta 23 Aug 2006, 23:04 Andy; Just gentle fun; Anyone whose seen Pete down the grass on the approach to Paddock isnt worried bout size of engine.
MiniMadness 24 Aug 2006, 18:44 I was going to race with barc but thet changed the regs and dont allow rear engined cars race so i will stay with semsec as i enjoy the club side of things
Col you mentioned BARC don't allow rear engined cars, does that include mid engined cars aswell ? In the meantime, I'll stick with SEMSEC and I hope to be racing at Lydden on 30 Sep in my MR2.
MiniMadness 24 Aug 2006, 18:50 Blimey did someone say 42 secs !! That's quick.
Andy I'm glad to hear everything run well last weekend, apologises I couldn't make it. Unfortunitely I'm racing at Blyton on 9/10th September so I can't make Brands either.
Thought I'd let you know, I've now started work on my new Mini, building this one for tarmac only (no Rallycross), I'll leave that to the MR2.
col rooney 24 Aug 2006, 18:55 Hi dont know about mid engine but when i was thinking of doing the track and saloon championship 1st off i was told my imp would be in class A and then when you read the reg,s is says front engined cars and rod birley comfirmed this to me by e/mail.

Upside Down Bug 24 Aug 2006, 19:39 Shame you can't make Brands, it would have been interesting to see the MR2 down there.

No such regs in the LMA Euro Saloons, so long as its not a full spaceframe its probably OK. Why not come out at Brands on 2 September?
Minicross424 25 Aug 2006, 21:35 Upsidedownbug, when my dad first saw the beetle smoking, he thought it was steam! Then he thought about it!!
I may not be doing Brands but im doing the remaining rounds in a much improved Mini. Lets just say im in contact with mad dog at present.
Come on minimadness bring that MR2 to Lydden in september and show us what your made of!!
Nyssa7, can minis enter and whats the entryfee?
If its a proper Mini and not some spaceframe, bike engine look-a-like then there will be a class in there somewhere in which you fit
Check out the regs at www.lmaeurosaloons.co.uk/e_regulations/e_regulations.html
Bike engined cars are allowed, but only if they are steel shelled Mini, Fiat 500s, etc and not Caterham type vehicles. Pretty well any saloon/sports car is allowed if there was ever a road going one registered in the UK
The Brands race currently has entries ranging from a couple of Super Tourers, a Noble M12GTR down to Integras, down to a Nova and a production Golf. So most people find somewhere to fit in
Race entry fee for the 15 minute qually and 20 minute race is £210 + £5 one off championship registration
col rooney 25 Aug 2006, 22:41 Hi Nyssa7
just had a look at the regs and is says car should have a steel roof and chassis legs mine dosent have either is there a class for a semi space framed cars
thanks col
