A friend of mine hillclimbs an RT1, chassis no RT1-2. It was converted years ago to accommodate a Rover V8 mated to a FG gearbox. This car was owned a few years ago by Richard Young who campaigned it for years in ireland where he won the championship a number of times, Richard sold it on to John Leinster in northern ireland and sold it on to John McNamara the current owner. I guess this car has substantial history. I would post pics if I knew how.

Peter, this is the fabled Coogar-Ralt that Mike MacDowel had built. It originally had a Hart engine but was then changed over to a Rover unit.
Richard campaigned it for many years as did John Leinster.
I have seen all of these drivers in the car over the years. It is a famous hillclimb car and if you suggest to the current owner that it might get a run at the Centenary Shelsley and he is up for it, I suggest he gets in touch with the MAC as quickly as possible.

I'll pass message onto John. I'm not sure whether he is going or not. I am but not sure whether to bring Lant or GP4 escort , cant make up my mind , Ill let u know what he is doing. Incidentally it came 3 O/A on the Galway Ballyalban Hillclimb at the weekend, but John being a little older now probably knows how fast he doesnt want to go. Just an engine rebuild.
