jonbryant 25 Aug 2006, 21:39 Looking forward to this meeting. Be odd not to be at the historic thing in Sussex but a weekend as a snapper isn't to be turned down! Fingers crossed you guys can muster lots of peeps for the day.
See you all there.
Jon,
Did you get any good shots of the LMA Euro Saloons race ?, in particular the Derek Hale Honda, racing at the front with the other Honda and the Noble.
BTCC watch out, this race proves that you can race quickly and closely without contact.
It was a great race to watch from our perspective, be interested what other people thought.
I've put up some video from the stand at www.nyssaracing.com
G.Walker 3 Sep 2006, 16:11 Im not usually a fan of races where the front row are 9 seconds quicker than the back row, especially on the Brands indy..... and the leaders lap the rest of the field 2-3 times..
But from watchin the downloads it looked a good race. It seems the supertourers have found a decent home! Is that the ex Rouse Britcar Mercedes 190evo running further down the field???
That is indeed the ex Rouse 190 Evo 2 making his first race with the series

martinlabatts 5 Sep 2006, 15:04 hi rich,
its 2.5 litre N/A built by AMG
same spec when rouse had it, set up for long disatnce races, brit car ect,
running 2hr endurence slicks and limiting the revs to only 8.5k, but it was dynoed to 10k
rouse i am told with this spec was doing 50 sec round brands indi
so its all me and not the car!
when my co driver drove at snetterton a couple of months back he was in the mid 1.13 sec laps
so in the right hands its a superb machine,
hoping to have another go at olton park,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v95/martinlabatts/190DTMspares002.jpg
need to get some tips from my mate lol

Yeah I wouldn't mind some tips from him actually. I know what you mean about getting used to the car. I first bought the Nissan ST last July and was doing brands Indy in 54's. Haven't raced there until last weekend and now doing 50's. Reckon I could get it down to early 49's, with new tyres and less fuel. Reckon Reid could do a 47 second lap, he did a 44 pre 99 changes.
Sounds like the Merc will soon be well on the pace with the tourers.

An original Labatts Sierra in A1 condtiion........fantastic. 90's touring cars were the ****** in my opinion, British, French, German just the best. Don't like these current tourers, the cars are dull.
martinlabatts 5 Sep 2006, 16:58 here is the display from last years donnington show,

You have 4 racecars??? Respect Martin. I managed 2 once but sold the slower one in the end and kept the Nissan. Agree though the Sierra's are a piece of motorsport history and too good to race in that vintage. Shame though be great to see one out with us.
martinlabatts 5 Sep 2006, 17:08 well not quite
as i have four now, sierra rs500 race cars plus the merc so thats five, goes to show how mad i am.
both labatts sierra harveys car is 100% original last race silverstone 1990
and then lawrence bristows car but this is now a thunder saloon,
the eggenberger texaco car is also original and not raced since fiji 500 1990
and also have graham goode 88 listerline car which i am restoring at the moment,
sold the white ex rouse bathurst ANZ car to a guy in australia at the end of last year,
i only started racing last as i thought there has got to be more then just polishing race cars,
this is the car i am currently restoring.

I will indeed sir......most impressive collection. Don't know if you are interested but a mate is selling a Kaliber Sierra RS500....not sure of history. Check out www.touringcarspares.com.
See ya at Oulton.:)
martinlabatts 5 Sep 2006, 17:48 hi yer i know tony and was chatting to him saturday,
only problem is not a ex kalaber car but a copy and was never a 500 race car from btcc ect
there was three guys from leister way that did copys of labatts, brookland and kalaber cars for track days,
they where on the front cover of fast ford a while back this car is one of these.
the last owner tels me it was once a shell of a borum built rally three door sierra, and then it was a rallycross car hence the engine position.
Tomcat Racer 10 Sep 2006, 10:01 Incidentally, anyone know how to get hold of David Roberts who binned his Tomcat into the Paddock gravel? I swear he aimed for me...
