thebear 30 Aug 2006, 16:47 Is the "Circuits" link supposed to suppliment or replace the one at MarshalsPost.com (http://www.marshalspost.com/circuits/)?
EvilPumpkin 30 Aug 2006, 17:15 The motorsport wiki is not associated with any other sites and isn't supposed to supplement or supplant any of them.

The "Circuits Guide" at marshalspost is intended for marshals - whereas the one in the wiki is more suited for all involved in the sport from spectator to the competitor.
Marshals really have no need, when arriving at the circuit, to know where the best place to watch is.
Conversely, the wiki will not have information about sign-on locations and amenities on post!
Whilst there is definitely information that is the same on both (how to get there for instance), they are aimed at different markets and serve different purposes.
ARGH why did I start to look at the Wiki? I'm supposed to be finishing my dissertation!
At half 3 in the morning?! Mad to do either! ;)
Yes at half 3 in the morning...it was finished about half 5.
Oooh that's good though, well done!

Good good Chezza :)
monkeyboy1976 4 Sep 2006, 09:16 I've added a few pages from wikipedia which has quite extensive info for motorsport. I've also put messages on wikipedia for users there interested in motorsport to contribute to motorsport wiki.

Hopefully, you invited them to 10-10th as well? :brm:
Thank you for valuable informations
Please excuse my ignorance.
Does this Motorsport Wiki have anything to do with Wikipedia?
My reason for asking is that the approach and standard template being used by a group who are uploading to Wikipedia are fundamentally flawed in that they do not consider Formula 1 race, World Championship race and Grand Prix to be exactly the same.
Does anybody know how we can inform them/

No.
The same software is used, but it's an independent project

There's various help files on the site itself. Plus, as they say, it's the "Encyclopaedia anyone can edit" - so any edits you feel are necessary you can make yourself.
Please excuse my ignorance.

Does anybody know how we can inform them/Problem (or strength) of a Wiki is that there is not really a "Them" to inform. If you think something is wrong, then you are free to edit it to be "right".
WARNING Unless you really know your stuff and the Wiki rules and guidelines you will get a lot of grief! Once you are sure of your grounds and what you suggest should be done, I recommend you go to a relevant entry, click on the Discussion tab and make your suggestions. Then read what is said.
Bear in mind that the combination of F1 'enthusiasts' and Wiki experts (as opposed to subject experts) is likely to be an inflammatory combination. :gfight:
Treat with care. :runaway:
