Clubmans Series Category?

Hello TT,

I have been playing with the Wiki - great idea - but want to add a new category. Help says put a note in discussion area on page, but this is disabled even when logged in.

I really just want a Clubman series category, at the moment single seaters and motorbike (and probably you will need Touring, Rally etc). Havent found a way of doing it yet.

In the meantime, create your article (I'm guessing Locosts? ;) ), and I'll make a category and add it for you :)

How did you guess the Locost bit :brm:...already done quick test article which you can get at via search and UK series category.

I'll look into that.I think I disabled the discussion facility as I felt that would encourage discussions on series / classes / drivers etc. in the Wiki rather than on the main forum. If the Wiki takes off then we may open a sub-forum specifically for contributors to discuss the technical / design / categorisation aspects of the Wiki.

Could there be a Teams section? We've only got F1 Teams at the moment, but I'd imagine BTCC, British GT, F3, and suchlike would all be useful additions. Perhaps cross linking "F1/F1 Teams" to "Teams/F1 Teams".

Can we have a section for "Off-road Racing" or similar - need somewhere to add Monster Truck Racing!

The "Drivers who died while driving race cars" bit seems unneccessarily specific at the moment. Spose it might come into its own as the wiki grows though. Could be changed to "...died while Racing" to include bike sports.

Is there a reason that "Clubs" doesn't appear on the categories sidebar when we have Circuits AND Circuit Guides there?

Agreed - I'm actually now thinking that each "major" series could have its own category cross linked in the same way as F1 - with sub-categories of drivers, teams, circuits (?).
For "clubby" series, I don't think the demand would be there - just links in the article for the series.
I'll create a general teams section, and add F1 teams into it - feel free to add others as you see fit

Yes for something - but not on the title "Off-road Racing", as that includes rallying, which is a higher level category.

Agree with the change. I'll leave it in though unless there many more objections - it is a legitimate category even though it can seem a bit gory.

I was worried about that - but I'm stuck as to what to call them....

How about using the same demarcation as used on the forum - therefore I would suggest 'National and Club', perhaps prefixed by a country (e.g. UK) to include all non-international UK circuit racing. Include single-seaters within that, along with saloons, sports, sports racing etc.

We already have a way of splitting by country (or International series) - so I'd say leave it as is.
What we do need though is a proper way of splitting Single Seaters, Sportscars, and the rest - I would agree with the four of S/Seaters, saloons, sportscars, sports racing cars.

Well the UK series is technically the European series so there wouldn't be a lot in it if it had it's own section. Maybe Europe, US and any others under championships, then a subsection for Trucks in the same way as the other sections are getting teams pages? Just doesn't site very easily within any other section!

Could create a "Trucks" section for "Series by type of racing" - thus incorporating Monster Trucks, Truck racing, and Tractor Pulling (well, near enough a truck...) as well as anything else?

Yeah, sounds like a plan. With the same subdivision for Teams as the others that would solve the problems.
