Knowlesy 30 Aug 2006, 19:45 Finally, the 1/18 Minichamps orange McLarens are here. The livery McLaren should be running, instead of the idiotic tin foil they use, can now be taken home!
Unfortunately, it seems that the Juan Pablo Montoya and Kimi Raikkonen versions are cancelled. However, the 2006 McLaren is being produced with the orange livery and these will include Montoya and Raikkonen.

Gary Paffett (http://www.minichamps.de/images/upload/530061895_n.jpg)
I'm happy in a way as it has saved me £90 and a little space. I was wondering where to put four cars!
I think the Kimi and JPM orange MP4-20's were cancelled because neither actually got to test one - they both went straight in with the orange MP4-21, which is what they're making instead. Models look good anyway, am looking forward to the Paffett car arriving.
Knowlesy 31 Aug 2006, 00:24 I think you are right there J-C. Had a look and could find no pictures of JPM or Kimi in the MP4-20.
nickyf1 31 Aug 2006, 21:29 I really, really, really, really, really, really dont think I have enough money for them....
Knowlesy 31 Aug 2006, 21:34 Get a 1/43 one then! :rotate:
Knowlesy 2 Sep 2006, 02:23 Hmmm....these seem to be very rare. Was looking at Trax earlier and they are sold out. And eBay has just one or two. Usually you get a few in the first weeks.
Wonder what these are limited to and what prices they will go for on eBay in the coming weeks?
Alfa Fan 2 Sep 2006, 15:01 TRAX still have the Gary Paffett one in stock. And GPL have both in stock (unless you one of the people that avoid them)
Knowlesy 2 Sep 2006, 21:53 GPL will tell you they have them in stock, take your order, charge you, discover they are out of stock and not tell you anyways.
Oops, did I just say that?
Knowlesy 5 Sep 2006, 18:16 Well, got them here with me.
Limited to 504 each, which surprised me. That is very sparse for what will be a popular edition.
But it is better that way!
Yep guess so. Guess they'll go for quite a bit on ebay!
Knowlesy 6 Sep 2006, 20:38 Yeah, I am regretting not buying a few extra. :(
Keep them then sell them on...am selling bit of motorsport stuff (and other bits and pieces) before moving, does nicely all the old racing stuff from a few years ago! :)
Knowlesy 6 Sep 2006, 21:58 I don't know if I could sell them. I like the colour too much.
I almost slept with one last night. ;)
But seriously, I think I will get a few extra of the next orange McLarens. And with those being JPM and Kimi cars, their last McLarens, they should rocket in value, unless they decide to make loads of them.
Ah well they're just models.... ;)
I want my Dad to sell his collection of Jordans - he has every one since the start - think they'd be worth quite a bit.
Keep the orange McLarens knowlesy and sell them in a couple of years. Until then, you can keep sleeping with them, just be careful not to damage them now ;)
Chatters 15 Sep 2006, 08:34 These are the cars they tested in between the 05 and 06 seasons yes?
From memory think your dates are right, yes. Do a search in the F1 forum because there was at least one thread about them in there.
Knowlesy 15 Sep 2006, 20:34 That is correct Chatters.
safc_fan89 16 Sep 2006, 10:37 I would buy one of those orange Mclarens except I have nowhere to put it! I prefer the 'tin foil' look anyway, it is a very good-looking car close-up.
See if Knowles can do you a good deal ;)
Knowlesy 16 Sep 2006, 11:15 The livery I prefer is the Johnnie Walker livery from last season. That has to be the best looking car in the world.
The orange one is a close second.
The tin foil car is ludicrous. I did like that at first, but now it just grates. Make a decent car before painting it garishly for heavens sake! Although it does look better in the flesh.
No deals Suze! :p
Knowlesy 16 Sep 2006, 12:08 For both? Yeah, sounds good.

I prefer the 05 livery for sure, but the 'chrome' livery this season is excellent. It doesn't look great on the camera from a distance, but close-up shots make it look excellent. The whole car is good-looking, just not as fast as it looks :p
Knowlesy 17 Sep 2006, 15:46 It is nice close up yes. But, we don't get to see that much.
Bring back West, all is forgiven. Stupid tobacco laws.
Well I hust bought my 1/18th BMW Sauber F1.06 (Nick Heidfeld ) from eBay.. NH and JV one seem to be cropping up now as dealer models, but from abroad.
Knowlesy 17 Sep 2006, 17:59 Yes, I've noticed those. They look stunning.
I'd love a BMW Sauber, have to see if I can get some cash saved.

They have announced a Robert Kubica model also... but that doesn't seem to be available yet.
Since we're on the subject of models my new F1.06 will tag onto the end of my line-up, which goes as follows:
(1/18th)
BMW Sauber F1.06 - Nick Heidfeld
BMW.Williams F1 FW 27 - Nick Heidfeld
BMW.Williams F1 FW 26 - Juan Pablo Montoya
BMW.Williams F1 FW 25 - Juan Pablo Montoya
BMW.Williams F1 FW 24 - Ralf Schumacher
BMW.Williams F1 FW 23 - Ralf Schumacher
BMW.Williams F1 FW 22 - Ralf Schumacher
Benetton BMW B 186 - Gerhard Berger
Brabham BMW BT52 - Ricardo Patresse
2000 BMW V12 LMR - Martini, Dalmas, Winkelhock
1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail - Cox, Ravaglia
1984 BMW 635 CSi European Touring Car Championship - Quester
1983(?) BMW M1 LeMans 'BMW France' - Quester, Pironi, Mignoti
1976 BMW 3.5 CSL Batmobile - Stuck, Petersen
1940 BMW 328 Mille Miglia Streamliner (No. 72)
I've only got one 1/43 model, 1992 BMW M3 DTT - Sabine Schmidtz
I've also got about 10 other road car 1/18th's.
Nice... taken me a couple of years to get this far, the Brabham and the Benetton where the two most expensive, the 1940 Mille Miglia car is probably the best actual model.
Anyway.. excuse the indulgence.
Knowlesy 18 Sep 2006, 18:15 You obviously hate BMW's.
:hijack:
1/18 Minichamps white BMW's are here
except the box says BMW Sauber F1.06..
But the underside of the model says Sauber C24
Interesting.... tis definatley the F1.06 though
Knowlesy 21 Sep 2006, 23:05 Are they not the show cars? Last years Sauber with this years livery?
yeah upon closer inspection (whilst trying to find room for it on my shelves) it is a bona fide launch car - at first it looked like a not-quite-right F1.06 or a not-quite-right C24 - but then I never was that familiar with the C24.
Also upon closer inspection it is obvious why the PMA/Minichamps models are so much more expensive than the hotwheels racing ones - I might start chopping in some of my Hotwheels Williams' for Minichamps as and when they come up on eBay.
Knowlesy 21 Sep 2006, 23:40 Yes, Hot Wheels do skip a bit of detail. To be fair they do release thier models nice and quickly, but at what price?
