jhansen 31 Aug 2006, 21:30 This is the weekend thread for Round 9 of the World Superbike Championship, which is being held at Assen. Please use this thread to discuss anything related to the race weekend including practice, qualifying, and the race.
BTW, the thread is unwanted since our esteemed forum host (ahem) has deemed it unworthy.

So I'll try and keep the party going.
Ignore him and he'll go away. ;)
In WSBK related news, Troy Bayliss will be with the boys in red till 2008.
I stated that I will ignore WSBK this weekend :p . I didn't say it is unworthy or unworthy (sic, it's a joke) :hobby:
I completely understood your intended humor. And indeed, I hope you understood mine. Besides, I needed to come up with a catchy thread title. Hazza is just too good in that department.
Glad to see Bayliss coming back. Now I'd just like to see some suitable factory opposition.
Although, I think Haga and Toseland will be up for it this weekend.
Can I change the title to
Troy about to kick some Ass[en] Thread
DavidStHubbins 1 Sep 2006, 15:25 I hope someone kicks Bayliss's arse! I doubt it but hey. He's an arrogant twerp when he's winning... I guess it's the chip on his shoulder from his smoulderingly bad stint in MotoGP when even Charlie Chucker gave him a spanking :)
He's not quite at Fogerty's level yet but he has just announced he wants to out-do him so he has time yet.
Hey Ducati! Put someone who can ride on the other Duke!
Can I change the title to
Troy about to kick some Ass[en] Thread
See, pure genius. :unworthy:
Anyways, yes, Bayliss is telling them all that he'll be tough to beat here. And he's on form. FP1 top 10:
1. Troy Bayliss 1min 40.692 secs
2. Alex Barros 1min 41.277 secs
3. Noriyuki Haga 41.417 secs
4. Regis Laconi 1min 41.518 secs
5. Yukio Kagayama 1min 41.541 secs
6. Lorenzo Lanzi 1min 41.563 secs
7. Troy Corser 1min 41.594 secs
8. James Toseland 1min 41.704 secs
9. Ruben Xaus 1min 41.805 secs
10. Michel Fabrizio 1min 41.985 secs
Nice to see Barros up there. But he and Haga are some ways behind. Qualifying 1 top 10:
1. Troy Bayliss 1min 39.336 secs
2. Lorenzo Lanzi 1min 39.888 secs
3. Michel Fabrizio 1min 40.171 secs

Geeze, Bayliss on provisional pole and half a second up on his teammate.
Dani Filth 1 Sep 2006, 17:33 and Fabrizio in 3rd .. not bad . not bad at all ..
but .. i miss the old Assen :(
BootsOntheSide 1 Sep 2006, 20:24 What is it that they're building over part of the old track? A supermarket or something? I hope the local people are happy with themselves for what they've destroyed.
Still, the current track isn't too bad, and we should be in for a pair of good races.
DavidStHubbins 1 Sep 2006, 20:27 Time to replace one-eyed Lanzi with someone who can race. OK, he's Italian but that's about it. What a waste of a fine bike.... Put Fabrizio on it at worst, otherwise what about Edwards or Toseland or Hodgson again?
It could be Hodgson since the AMA Ducati team will not be racing next year.
DavidStHubbins 1 Sep 2006, 20:55 True, but Edwards would be more interesting.
I wouldn't mind that at all. Bayliss vs. Edwards on the Ducati would be awesome. We'll just have to see if Edwards ends up out of Moto GP or not.
DavidStHubbins 1 Sep 2006, 21:00 I hope Edwards does go to WSBK because I hate to see him so impotent. He's a favourite of mine and he's not having a good time.
Knowlesy 1 Sep 2006, 21:46 It would be 2002 all over again. Edwards vs. Bayliss. Awesome.
And WSBK needs a proper scrap. Bayliss vs. Corser? I'm sorry, but give Corser competition and he can't do it. So yes, please come back Colin after you grab a win in MotoGP!
I read that Barros has drafted in his old race engineer. So that's good stuff. I'd like to see that team expand to two bikes next year with some factory support. But I think they need money as well. I'd like to see Honda up there though!
Superpole results. Bayliss in a lowly 4th!
1 Troy Corser 1min 38.965 secs
2 Noriyuki Haga 1min 39.009 secs
3 Yukio Kagayama 1min 39.176 secs
4 Troy Bayliss 1min 39.304 secs
5 Alex Barros 1min 39.419 secs
6 Karl Muggeridge 1min 39.543 secs
7 James Toseland 1min 39.565 secs
8 Andrew Pitt 1min 39.756 secs
9 Fonsi Nieto 1min 39.958 secs
10 Lorenzo Lanzi 1min 40.149 secs
Dani Filth 2 Sep 2006, 19:48 they must've forgotten to put the qualifiers on .
Knowlesy 2 Sep 2006, 21:52 That was a fabulous lap from Troy, an absolute joy to watch. Poetic. Balletic.
Shame there's two races for him to do now, really.
Knowlesy 3 Sep 2006, 11:34 Looks wet. ;)
Dani Filth 3 Sep 2006, 12:08 well .. it's very wet actually
it's ****ing wet.
Go Joshifumi. Ride that Kawasaki like nothing else.
Ahh pooop, Barros has just retired.
Brookes P10!
Come on ya git! Joshifumi!
I just can't help feeling that Bayliss doesn't have the hunger in the wet anylonger...:(
Having said that it'll probably be horrbily ironic and he'll end up winning...;)
Joshifumi P9!
The talent of this young lad is undeniable!
CORSER DOWN!
Ergo: Brookes P8! JOSHIFUMI!
Knowlesy 3 Sep 2006, 12:17 Corser down. I shall try to contain my abject shock and surprise.
XAUS DOWN!
Josh p7!
BAYLISS OUT!
KAGAYAMA OUT!
THEY ARE FALLING LIKE FLIES!!!
BROOKES COULD BE ON A THE PODIUM! KEEP IT UP RIGHT SON!!! KEEP IT UPRIGHT!!!
Bayliss down
Muggas down
...but Joshifumi +1
Knowlesy 3 Sep 2006, 12:29 Does anybody want to win this race?!?!

Stalker strikes at the Edwards Chicane
Last lap, Stalker just has to keep it upright...
Knowlesy 3 Sep 2006, 12:47 Stalker wins!!!!! :woot:

Knowlesy 3 Sep 2006, 12:52
Does that mean that every major Manufacturer has won a race this year then? All you need is Aprillia ;)
DavidStHubbins 3 Sep 2006, 13:06 WALKER !!!
Finally, I can unclench me buttocks :0
I'm happy with that.
Haga, Corser and Tose down at Turn One in race two.
It's Bayliss, from Kagayama THE FONZ and Pitty.
Fonz seem's to have the right tyres on and is flyyyyiinnngg!
Knowlesy 3 Sep 2006, 15:57 How are the track conditions compared to race one?
Pitty sais YOU SHALL NOT PASS! And Kagayama nearly Torpedoed him! Ouch, that was close.
The Fonz is stalking Bayliss.
Dry, but with a few damp patches. The curbs are still slippery.
The Fonz has ****ed it. He's still upright, but it's now Bayliss, Daylight, Pitty, Sunshine, Kagayama, Xaus and The FONZ.
Stirred by the sight of P3, Xaus is bashing fenders with Kagayama and THE FONZ.
Bayliss [3secs] Pitty [2secs] Kagayama, FONZ and Xaus.
Bayliss wins, 100pt lead in the title race.
Pitty was second, followed by The Fonz.
Knowlesy 3 Sep 2006, 16:28 Title should be settled at Lausitz then.
It was great to see Walker get a race win last night. Damn I wished Josh had of finished. How good would a top 5 finish been for him.
I am about to sit down and watch the 2nd race.
Any news on if Walker has a ride next year?
Ok... Channel 4 shows the Assen round at one in the morning... its been a long weekend, but I can do this.... zzzzzzzzz... open my eyes, damn I'm tired... can't focus.... hang on, what's wrong with my eyes.... ****! I can't see! I can't... No hang on, oh christ, its pouring down... Who's that? Its a kawasa.... Its Chris Walker! Its... STALKER! STALKER!...
Well, yes constable, I know its early in the morning... Er, yes.... I will remember to close my curtains next time....
N I Tram 4 Sep 2006, 15:50 Astonishing ride from Chris, coming from dead last to win when everybody else was struggling to stay on. Nice to be reminded of just how talented he is. Race 2 ruined the championship though, not sure what happened, but it seems like Corser lost his brake lever in contact off the line but didn't realise until he'd outbraked himself. Looked like he was trying to blame Toseland afterwards, which took some chutzpah.
Well considering *he* hit Haga (which eventually took him out) and then took down Toesland all in the space of the first corner...;)
Knowlesy 4 Sep 2006, 22:32 Where is Corser in the standings now? 5th?
It's just not good enough Troy!
DavidStHubbins 6 Sep 2006, 11:58 Where is Corser in the standings now? 5th?
It's just not good enough Troy!
Yeah, Vauxhall Corser! You've just got to Troy harder ay mate?!
Ah the puns...
Hey Mick, what you Doohan?
Wasn't Haga the Pitts at the weekend? And that Klaffi Honda rider was simply em-Barros-ing in Race 1. He had to give up.
Sofoglu? So what?
I stop now.
Well, I didn't get a chance to see the races. I was hoping to tape them yesterday, but that didn't happen. Sounds like Haga had a big chance to pick up some points in Race 1 and binned it. Bummer.
BootsOntheSide 6 Sep 2006, 19:38 Same goes for Bayliss, Corser and Kagayama though, it was really slippery out there and it eventually went to a proven wet-weather rider on a well-handling bike, which was quite a happy outcome.
Yoong Montoya 10 Sep 2006, 21:53 Yeah, Vauxhall Corser! You've just got to Troy harder ay mate?!
Ah the puns...

It's getting Hagaer now.
