Hey guys, I've been busying myself in making replica liveries of current car liveries and I thought I should share them with the world. Feel free to make your own and post them as you please.
Here's a work in progress of the Jack Daniel's '06 cars:

I need to fix up the Jack Daniel's logo, and the 'Pace Yourself. Drink Responsibly' bit, but what do you think of it aside from that?

Hey Chatters - these are looking good! Apart from the numbers, the only other thing i see on the HSVDT car is there is a white outline around the letters in the PIRTEK logo, but thats probably me being picky.

Thanks for the kind words M-Kart. I have to agree the numbers do look a little shyte, maybe I need to hone my skills a bit more. And I did pick up on the white outline on the Pirtek logo, after I'd posted it. :(

The BOC car looks great Chatters!

Would you rather to do them all yourself? or do you mind others having a go? I have the 'shatter/splash' shape on the 888 cars already done, just in a different colour (from when i did the vodapfone dummy livery), so it would me quite easy for me to transfer it to the betta version.

I have no problems with you having a go Mitch, as I said at the start of this thread anyone can have a go, I'll probably end up having a shot at the 888 livery too.

I know i dont have the full NASCAR door of sponsors that they run, and the small ones arent 100%accurate with placement, but its VERY hard/tedious/timeconsuming to get oneof each logo,colour & size it right and place it correctly. I've also noticed that i havent put in: 1. the 100% correct ford sticker (this one has the blue gradient in it, not just the silver outline onto the car's blue), the red/silver on the roof, and the havoline blue headlight covers, as a tried them, but couldnt get a result i liked, so i ran with what i had.

Enjoy it! i might try a few more in the coming weeks.

Not to worry, working now. Probably a problem on my end. It doesn't look too bad, the Ford logo needs fixing, as do the numbers, but the yellow "splat" as I call it looks good, and it's the main features of the car I think you should aim at working on, not fiddly little things like minor sponsors. You'll notice mine only have a select number of sponsors on them. But yeah, good first up effort, have you got any other projects you might be working on?

Not as yet, i just knocked that one up quickly tonight as i already had the 'splat' design saved (just in different colours). I may try a few mor in the coming days. just have to decide who. I'd like to do the djr cars (the 3 versions theyve used- firstrock/v8telecom and APVC), as well as the rustymobile. the caltex is a good starting base, just a tad more complicated i think.

Yeah, I started off with something relatively easy in the JDR cars and am working my way up... Too what? I dunno.

Anyway, my next production will be the '06 Britek car, and then I will step back in time a bit and do the '05 Perkins scheme :).

I have a copy of this years Britek mocup they did themselves for the launch this year - i'll try to post a copy of it when i get back home (I dont have it on me here at uni). Interesting the red/orange 'fade job' they used to simulate the 'bright'er (get it? haha lame joke) metallic colours they are using this year.

Cant wait to see your versions though - should be great!

Is that the one with Mark Taylor's head on a Fujitsu Visa Debit card on the rear 1/4 panel? I seem to remember that on the car in pit lane at Qld Raceway, but I dont think they ran that at adelaide.

I'd use photshop, find an image of the entire car with mr taylor on it, resize it/rotate it whatever you have to do. Put a clear vector mask thing around it then paste it onto the car itself. that 'should' do it.

The car wasnt launched with it on though. here's the mockup britek themselves did, notice the barren rear guard. (it actually also has, as separate images, front back and top views, but the side is most relevant at them moment here i think.):

I just posted that britek up for comparison more than anything else. The Garry Rogers cars look good on track, so i'm surethe mockups will look just as good.

my next project (probably 2morrow) will be what is by far the simplest livery in V8's, the Paul Morris Sirromet Cars!

PWR could use my fantasy championship livery but just put their decals on it it lookd better then theirs side on IMO.although this is not a mock up it is something similar.

Right, trials and travesties of 6th Gear aside, here is my take on the Fujitsu cars of 2006, with the Ricky Bobby paintscheme:

only the blinkers on the tail lights are at the top not the bottom and the lights dont go onto the boot which al can be modified easily and the other difference is the buldge in the bottom of the inside of the headlight which can also be modified.

Well, it's been a long time coming folks, I've been busy with exams, so I haven't put my best efforts into this: The 2006 Tasman car.

As you can see, the front needs, fixing, and I think the Smorgon Steel is white and grey, not just all white. Apart from that, what do you guys think?

Very nice chatters, looking good. The only thing i thing is missing (other than the numbers, which i know you r purposly leaving out) is the orange stripe between the white and front silver streak.

As for your next car, how about the 2003 team brock car (yellow/silver betta electrical version). I loved that car.

I know the number isnt 100% perfect, but the backing to it (the white '05' shape) is really a major feature of the car (it makes it Team Brock), so I had to try it.

Looks good, only problems I can see is the EA Sports logo on the front (the photo I was working off has Biante- Maybe that was a later edition), and there's no LG logo on the rear quarter panel. Otherwise good work! :)

Brighty's car at the AGP supports. It does have Biante on the front corner (sorta wrapping round) a well as no LG on the rear quarter, but having checked other photos, you are right, I did later run with those on.

My next car is the Doulman/Cotter Gatorade VT (the one with the 'bubbles' all over it). I've got the colour, bubbles, etc. in place, but I need to accurately place the sponsors. Unfortunatley I cant find a pic of it anywhere! would anyone either be able to post one for me, or link me to one if they know of it? That would be greatly appreciated.

I've decided to step back in time and to something a little different: I am currently working on a remake of the 2003 SBR Enduro scheme. The blended one with both sponsors. BUt instead of just making a carbon copy of it I will make my own scheme, something a little more conventional. Keep on the lookout for it!

Well my Gatorade car is done, sorta. The only image i could find, going back thru my 'archives' (very very large shelf/accompaniying stack of motorsport books/magazines) was in the 2000 V8 Supercar TV guide - and its a mainly front-on shot, and its obscured behind tratty's old toll AU. I managed to get the main gist of the livery, the only thing I couldnt get it on the sideskirt, is some writing. I think it says Doulman Automotive, but it is impossible to make out. As a result i've left it out, but you can understand how it should look.

Its been a while, but i decided to do anothe mockup today, the PCR Glenfords car. Relatively easy one, the number i actually created by tracing the number on a side-photo of the car. here it is:

Now the photo i based it on was taken in adelaide, so it doesnt have all the sponsors the car has now (notably Dodo, and others, as well as not crowding the car with every minor sponsor on the front guard). What do you think?

Haha, it gets easier too! i might quickly knock up the sirromet cars. even easier than the cruikshank cars!

To answer your question M-Kart, I have gone back to the drawing board with my design. Instead of trying to create my own scheme, which was proving too tedious and ultimately looked crap, I've decided to make a half-half scheme of both the Pirtek and Caltex 2003 cars. I'll still be interested to hear what you think of how accurately I can re-create each side.

In the mean time, to tide you over, here is another screenshot in progress of the Caltex side:

Caltex side is looking veery accurate (i assume it will have the VIP Petfoods pawprints on it no doubt), if the pirtek side is anywhere near as good as that, its gonna be a really good job

I Decided to give Will Davison's APVC (Accor Premiere Vacation Club) #18 DJR Car a go.

Now this isnt my best (unfortunately), but i tried a few new things which i havent done in photoshop before, including the fade (white-blue) and the use of sections from photos to get certain artwork/logos (the penelope pitstop image on the quarter). I do know, however, the APVC logo isnt perfect, but it does the job. Here it is:

Well here it is, but sorry, its a couple of minutes late!! Autobarn one of the simplest designs in the series, but sometimes, simple can be neater. As always, it doesnt have all the minor sponsors, but i think it looks ok. I returned to my normal tecniques, so it looks better than the APVC car. Thought it was time to do a Holden as well! (after a couple of Falcons). follow the link - its a bit bigger than the falcon images.

on my screen when i click on the link, the black line 'border' in the 55 doesnt fit centred in the white 55 shape, and in my view, makes them look wonky.

might just be my computer, or i might be making a mountain out of a molehill coz i'm a bit of a perfectionist

haha thanks. here's the MorrisMobile - the gurr/coulthard/perkins/price/ellery car will follow tomorrow. Apologies for the kinda dodgy sirromet lettering, the only logo i could find was nowhere near big enough, so it blurred a bit as i enlarged it. i did a bit or adjusting/retouching, but it isnt perfect. otherwise, i'm content with it!

you'll see i used of dark, dark grey instead of black to simulate the matt/satin black on the real car (the wheels are black, as ther are glossy normally). The other car will be totally black, because the real car is gloss.

How is that allowed? That would drop the weight way under the minimum wouldnt it? I thought all car panels were still metal and not carbon fibre

With the amount of them he breaks, PMM must have a budget higher than Walkinshaw!

(they do have to be melat panels, he's just painted them satin black to look like they are carbon fibre)

On double checking, you are correct, the numbers arent 100% right.

Near spot on with the AU mate, the only differences are the blue/red lines running forward and back come to a more distinct point on the real car.

Just another easy/simple one - Here's the other sirromet car, #39.

of its 6 drivers this year (Gurr, Coulthard, Ellery, Scott, Price, Perkins) i've put Alan Gurr's name on it, as it was primarily based on the livery at indy - the gurr-gate event is possibly what caused the most talk about this car all year (including the follow on from indy, with shane price and jack perkins taking over drive duties).

while this mockup is mainly based on the indy car, its a bit of a conglomerate of the year - the number design is the one used later in the year (in the white lined - bordered box), but i havent put anything on the rear bumper/rear quarter, as they have changed a number of times during the year, and couldnt pick a certain look i liked (the plain black flanks look pretty good actually IMHO). white wheels, like is had almost all year, and dark black colouring to represent the gloss black on this car, as opposed to the satin on morris' car. I used a completely white bonnet (like at indy), but it has also had completely black, and half black/half white bonnets thru the year, as they have swapped drivers, sirromet promos, and even chassis! Here it is:

That looks bloody awesome mate. One thing though, you need to remove the spots of yellow from inside the 'make the most of now', and the wheel IMO will be only one colour.

Other then that, WELL DONE! I love it! :beer:

Cheers, yeah, i see that now, it comes up different when it's not in photoshop...there is a dark red line between the voda logo and the word. And some random bad joins and stuff. But yeah, ironing out those bugs are what practice brings I guess.

No, its not the real logo - i couldnt get one in a size that didnt look like an absolute mess when enlarged to the size i needed, so i did my best to 'mock it up' using the fonts i have on my comp - its mainly the shape of the R's that is different. so u r right, its not 100% accurate cat logo, but it was the best i could do in the situation. :)

If your using paint then google or the actual companies sites are the best to get logos from.

Try something with a lot of straight lines on it for something nice to start with. JDR or the DJR helix AU cars from a few years ago would be something good to start with

Oh, Chatters (and everyone else), i've decided to ry to put a specialised website together showing all the liveries that the V8's run - similar to a site run in the US by Jayski - but for nascar liveries.

I'm going to start with 2007, and as each car is unveiled, and is done as a Mock Up, i'll pput it online. I'm going to do it with my re-makes, and if anyone else wants there cars on there, please let me know (the more people who provide them, the less time it'll take to get the full season's cars on there. If the cars have any changes during the year - ie Davisions V8 telecom & APVC liveries last year, and the JD cars in bahrain with the 'Jack Lives Here'.

Ok, I am proud to announce the first 2007 Car to be done, and fittingly it is the first 2007 car to be revealed. I present Mark Winterbottom's 2007 Orrcon Racing FPR Ford Falcon BF! (Yes, it is a BF, I modified the BA Template to have the BF kit that was on the 888 Vodafone cars at their launch - shorter front splitter and changed sideskirts. i've done 5-spoke and 8-spoke versions, and i'll stick these on the blank templates thread in just a few minuites).

Good looking work as always M-Kart, you nailed it perfectly. Right now I am too busy moving to do the Vodafone car but that is my next project, and I'm looking forward to serving it justice and remaking it well!

My next project is the Tasman Car for this year - I know they've only done one picture of it, but its not gonna stop me!

(I also look forward to seeing your vodafone car Chatters- the chrome AND dayglo effects are gonna make it a challenge for you i think! should be great!)

Well i've done the Tasman Cars for this year, #3 Jason Richards and #51 Greg Murphy. As the car will probably have major sponsor changes again this year, as it did last year, i've just done a mocup of the version they have released so far, wih Firepower as major sponsor on the car. Here you go:

My next cars will probably be DJR's 2007 cars which are going to be launched next week, so it may be a little while before i get that done (depends on what they show, and how complex their design is)

Thanks for the tip PWR, but i'd like to check- are you basing that on the image of the design the team has released? i did think it might be silver, but based on last years car (white stripes) and the way the firepower writting looks the same, i thought it was white, and the different silvery/dark white shaeds were just shadowing on the image.

but please, for the purposes of accuracy, feel free to proove i'm wrong! (i'll update the images on my computer if it is infact silver, so i'd really like to know)

i think you are right just went back through my V8X and seen that it is shadowing as down the bottom on the skirts its borderline grey and as you go up towards the strips on the pillars it becomes white.

Sounds good chatters - your 06 JD cars were great (they started this whole thread from memory), so 07 should be no different!

Now they've launched them (and how god do they look!!!), i'm making up the DJR Jim Beam-mobiles as we speak.

Good job with that mockup mate, you captured it well.

With a bit of inspiration for the Castrol Edge colourscheme that the Brays run in Drag Racing, i've adapted similar colours to FPR, and i think it'd look hot. note the fade of yellow/brown would be (metallic) gold. With the black it looks like a more retro look (black & gold - think JPS BMW, there were Black & Gold VK's in the 80s as well. Classy and mean). Here it is:

Here's one I did last weekend, its the PMM Sirromet Launch Car. I know he'll be running a VE, but it was launched on a VZ, so i used the photos of VZ, and did a mockup of the launch car. Here it is:

Probably the simplest one to do this year (unless they make car #39 even simpler!!). I know the numbers arent quite right, but its the closest i can get with the fonts on my machine.
