For those who haven't been a part of something like this before, it's fairly simple, You have a team, and a budget, and make the team of your choice, providing you don't go over budget. You can have a PR person to issue press statements, make liveries make car numbers, sponsers, whatever, it's all good fun.

Here's the not overly large rulebook:

Your Budget: $1,700,000
You can hire up to 4 drivers for your cars.

Driver Values:

$900,000
#48 Jimmy Johnson
#17 Matt Kenseth
#20 Tony Stewart

$800,000
#29 Kevin Harvick

$750,000
#31 Jeff Burton
#8 Dale Earnhardt Jr.
#24 Jeff Gordon
#9 Kasey Kahne

$700,000
#16 Greg Biffle
#2 Kurt Busch
#5 Kyle Busch
#99 Carl Edwards
#11 Denny Hamlin

$600,000
#07 Clint Bowyer
#43 Bobby Labonte
#25 Casey Mears
#12 Ryan Newman
#19 Elliott Sadler
#88 Dale Jarrett

$500,000
#7 Robby Gordon
#66 Jeff Green
#26 Jamie McMurray
#10 Scott Riggs

#84 A.J Allmendinger
#00 David Reutimann

$100,000
#61 Chad Chaffin
#74 Derrick Cope
#78 Wallace K.
#72 Brandon Whitt

All of these drivers should be running the full season, (which is why Mark Martin/Regan Smith and Ken Shrader/Jon Wood are not listed) if you want to change a driver, for poor results, doesn't enter races, or otherwise, you can make 2 changes throughout the season.

Points:
Points are the same as the real series. Whatever a driver scores at each round in real life is what that driver will receive here, including penalties. The 'Chase' will not be used. If you notice that your team hasn't scored as many points as you think they should have (or more than they should have ), let me know and I'll look into it.

Team Ownership, and you
- You don’t have to use all $1.7 million, but DO NOT GO OVER BUDGET!!! You will be disqualified from the round if I discover any creative bookkeeping.
- A driver can be chosen by more than one team - these guys are consummate professionals and are able to drive any amount of cars at once.
- Points are the same as the real series. If things don't seem to add up, feel free to query my maths ability.
- Round results and championship standings will be posted here following the conclusion of each round. (if you hadn't noticed, alot of this is just copied from the V8 series, wonder if anyone will notice, just like this I'm writing)
- After the results have been posted, you can write press releases on your team’s performance (or lack of). Show us how good you are at distributing propaganda.

Team Announcements

Once you’ve picked your driving line-up, give your team a name, announce some sponsors, racing numbers, liveries, grid girls (pictures please! ), mascots, overseas technical partners and any other stuff you can think of, and of course your manufacturer of choice (though your manufacturer doesn't affect you points), then post here giving a detailed description of the copious quantities of hide your team will kick in the forthcoming season.

To make it easy for me, could you please condense the propaganda into this sort of form following your press release:

NAME:Joe Bloggs Racing
SPONSOR(S): Intel, Coca-Cola
DRIVERS:
#12 Dale Earnhardt Jr
#87 Joe Nemechek
#33 Juan Montoya
MANUFACTURER: Ford

(your choice of car numbers and Manufacturer doesn't actually affect anything, is just for fun, and people can make up their own liveries based upon that)

Posting Images and Liveries

Half of the fun of this is creating and posting your own liveries. While everybody likes to show infinite detail at super-high-resolution, not everybody’s screen can take it. While I can handle going over 400x400 (given there are warnings about large images), it's a bit rough posting images wider than a regular screen. I refer you to the piece highlighted in red - 800x600 is probably the largest you should go.

I know there are some real good livery makers here, so get into it (however, I am totally useless at it)

Other
For those of you not so knowledgeable about NASCAR, in the Nextel Cup series, only the top 35 cars in owner (not driver) points is guaranteed a starting stop in the field of 43, the 7 fastest of the rest get in, often there is more than 43 cars competing to even get into the race, hence driver values for drivers in cars out of the top 35 may seem a little low. Rookies and new teams especially will have a hard time, also the top 35 from 2006 is locked in for the first 5 or so races of 2007.

http://www.nascar.com/races/cup/2006/data/standings_owner.html
(look for the real life car number, there is driver names there may not neccesarily be the driver of that car)
Prizes

Maybe? Maybe not, I really don't know, but you shouldn't be doing it for the prizes anyway ;)

So get you entries in people, you can change your team as many times as you like 'till Daytona (before the 1st Duel, 15th Feb), if you enter later than that you'll just score from the 1st round that you start. (schedule here: http://www.nascar.com/races/cup/2007/data/schedule.html)

Any questions/issues etc post here or PM me

Good luck

"Team DBK Knowlesy Racing" makes it's debut in NASCAR Nextel Cup in 2007. After a strong debut season in Champcar, in which the team was a consistent frontrunner and once a winner, the organisation has decided to expand into America's biggest racing series!

The team will employ the services of crowd favourite Dale Earnhardt Jr, ex-F1 star Juan Pablo Montoya and 2006 frontrunner Denny Hamlin. Rumours that these choices were made from total bias rather than common sense are totally false, the team would like to add.

The three Chevrolet's we will run will be sponsored by M&M's, Johnnie Walker and Texaco-Havoline in three lucrative deals for the team.

See you in Daytona!

After having driven to work, supermarket, on Swedish highways and in Europe for several years in addition to crappy simracing talents and appearances in stock car races for cars costing maximum 500 Euro - ZZ Racing International proudly but a bit shy presents its NASCAR 2007 Season project.

For this fantastic project the team have tied up TREO Comp headache pills, Pepsi Cola, Dell computers and Gulf as main sponsors and the drivers choosen for the task are:

ZZ Racing International Gulf Oil

#42 Juan Pablo Montoya driving the Treo Comp car, creating your headache and not likely to cure it all the times.

#20 Tony Stewart driving the Pepsi Cola car, it's fattening but we like it.

#45 Kyle Petty driving the Dell Computer car, it's pretty boring but trustworthy.

The rest of the money is wasted in a bad game of poker, making the press officer (me) working for free.

Sorry Matt, I forgot to mention, no duplicate teams, as you'd always be level with Knowlesy, however, if you choose to change a driver later in the season, it's ok if it makes your team the same as someone elses then.

Also, 6th Gear Race Engineering is over budget

Newman $600,000
Green $500,000
Riggs $500,000

I don't see a need to allow identical teams, there is 50 drivers there, so there is plenty of choice, however it is ok to swap a driver after the first race to make you team identical to someone elses. Being stuck with the same points as someone else could be a bit frustrating,

B.O.R.I.N.G (Boxy Organised Racing Including Naked Gridgirls), has this year decided to expand on our other racing commitments, and head to the Good 'Ol U S of A for an assault on the Nextel Cup.

With limited experience in NASCAR racing, this year is solely about keeping out of trouble, whilst gaining as many top 15 finishes as possible.

B.O.R.I.N.G Line up:

#2 Juan Pablo Montoya. $250,000
#22 Brian Vickers. $500,000
#3 Scott Riggs. $500,000
#33 Reed Sorenson. $400,000

Our choice of weapon, will of course be the Chev.

No sponsors required, as I am filthy rich, and choose to run this team on my own accord.;)

car #202 - AJ Allmendinger - $150,000
car #010 - Casey Mears - $600,000

total driver cost - $1,700,000 - smack on budget!!
(i did a quick check, and at tis point in time i think i have a unique team, if not, please let me know, and i'll change)

In keeping with our Chrysler factory sponsorship that we carry in Australia, we will be running Dodge branded cars in 2007.

Final liveries and sponsors for each car will be announced soon, but in the meantime here is an image of our testing on Australia's only banked superspeedway, the Thunderdome, in Melbourne. The car is painted in a generic black/silver team test livery - not the final design. all 4 drivers impressed at the test (on an oval designed to mimic/copy charlotte (lowes)) so the day was infact valuable for team and drivers alike!

follow the link for testing pic - i'll only post my actual liveries on the thread itself, just to assist those with dial-up.

SCF / Team Iron Horse Announce US Invasion

After four highly successful years in the Ten-Tenths V8Supercar Fantasy Championships, Scuderia Cavallo Ferro have announced their first foray onto American soil with an entry into the 2007 NASCAR Fantasy Championship.
The team have taken delivery of 16 Dodge Chargers for former series champ Kurt Busch, Tony Raines, Reed Sorenson, and David Stremme, and will race under the Team Iron Horse name as it was felt the team's Italian-derived equivalent may alienate the important Redneck fanbase, especially considering Dale Jr. is not on the payroll.
With continued support from CRC lubricants, the cars will all run in variations of the red scheme first seen in last years V8 champs.

AM2 Motorsport is a small but well-rounded team headed by owner and all around bigshot, Victor Aquino. Aquino, along with his drivers series rookie Juan Montoya, 2-time series champion Tony Stewart, and recent winner of a stage of the Dakar Rally Robby Gordon.

"I'm really just excited about this," exclaimed Mr. Aquino. "We have a new car from Holden, 3 top notch former open-wheel drivers, and we've got great staff on this team, in other words, ME!"

This year will be the debut of an AM2/Aquino-developed Holden Commodore VZ chassis in Nextel Cup. The VZ Cup chassis was based heavily off the VY Commodore used in the V8 Supercars championship.

Asked why he decided to go with the VY/VZ body rather than one of the manufacturers already in Cup, Aquino said "Well, to be honest this was originally going to be a project to bring Pontiac back in Cup. The VZ Commodore is supposed to be the new Pontiac Grand Prix/G8 in the States. But since it's not out, we can't officially call it a Pontiac. And if we used a car that hasn't even been released, well, you're just playing with the laws of physics there, friend. Seriously, do you want Tony Stewart falling into a rift in time-space at Fontana and sucking with it about half of Southern California? I didn't think so. And besides, guys are already using Monaros here as GTOs, so we thought 'Eh, let's just keep it Holden regardless'."

Furthermore, he went on the record saying "You know, my original plan was to run 2 cars for other drivers and drive the #41 myself. But after I thought long and hard about it, I figured 'I'd make the races TOO boring'. Seriously, I'd turn off the TV too if I was watching myself lap the entire field."

Asked "Seriously?" by another reporter, Aquino said "Umm..no. Really, I don't even have a drivers license. But don't tell that girl over there, she thinks I'm loaded!"

Watch for the AM2 team to make it's on-track debut at Daytona in February.

Two Dollar Twenty (with GST) Racing is branching into the Nextel Cup with a two - car attack.

The combination of Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon will be the only American component of the team; everything else is All-Aussie. Team Manager Russell Coight will be calling the shots. Sponsors include iconic Australian brands like Vegemite, Arnott's and Speedo. Driving suits will reflect the latter, being flesh-coloured with just the hint of a pair of swimming togs visible.

Cars are also All-Aussie, with a new 358 cubic inch version of the original engine powering the pair of Lightburn Zetas.

For immediate release:

S12 Racing International's president Robert Q. Loblaw met with Toyota Motorsport president John Howett today at 1:00 p.m. at the rim of the Toyota money pit. "May I call you Bob?", asked John. "Why?", said Robert.
"Because now whenever I need a cheap laugh, I can tell my secretary I need to get in touch with Bob Loblaw, but he's so long winded!"
Anyway, sources close to the action report that S12's Camry effort in Nextel Cup is going to benefit from the expertise of the engineers at
Toyota F1. No, really. They'd like to help. However, when legendary crew chief and team part owner Junior Johnson caught wind of it, his first words were; "Send 'em a couple cases of my Junior Johnson Brand Pork Skins on the next DHL plane, and send Denny with 'em!"

Testing has begun in earnest, early lap times promising, Denny lost. An interesting start to a long season.

1.13.2007 (22:30 PST) LOS ANGELES, California - As AM2 Motorsport's 3-car assault on Daytona is ready to take on the qualifying Duels on Thursday, back at the shop, the car builders are hard at work keeping pace with some of the other teams already showing their Car of Tomorrow chassis.

"When I saw All-American Racer's spy photos of their current-style Lacetti, it looked like any other new model launch for this season," said owner Victor Aquino. "But for them to come with a CoT version while barely revealing their current car, well, we had to step things up."

Feeling some heat from the AAR Chevy Lacettis, AM2 quickly got to work towards fabricating a CoT version of their Holden Commodore VZ.

The TTNCFCC (Ten-Tenths Nextel Cup Fantasy Championship Council ;)) beleives Riggs never was in the $400,000 bracket, it isn't in any of the councils sheets, the original thread was only edited by me to change a spelling mistake, then by Knowlesy as I'd forgot to put Dale Jarrett in the lineup, I don't beleive Riggs' value ever got changed. AM2 Motorsport Press Release
February 25, 2007
LOS ANGELES, California - After a dissapointing first 2 races of the season, including a finish outside the top 20 at AM2's home race in Southern California, AM2 Motorsports has officially made the decision that Robby Gordon will no longer race with Victor Aquino and AM2 Motorsports.

"While it was a rough start for Robby last year, he looked like he really stepped it up," says Aquino. "But this year, it seems like he just can't exactly get 100% with the team. It's safe to say that both I and Robby expected different things from each other, neither of which coming to fruition. So we both agree that we are probably better off going our separate ways."

Meanwhile, AM2 has, incredibly quickly, picked up hotshot rookie David Ragan to replace Robby Gordon in the #23 Sammy/Atomiswave Holden Commodore effective as of the upcoming race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2 weeks.

Seeing that they now have quite a surplus of money, AM2 also has decided to take a fourth driver in the form of Joe Nemechek, who will pilot the #36 "Motorsport" Holden Commodore. (Livery here: http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1851730#post1851730)

With the removal of Robby Gordon and the addition of David Ragan and Joe Nemecheck, AM2 Motorsports' salary cap is as follows:

#41 (#42) Juan Pablo MONTOYA $250,000
#76 (#20) Tony STEWART $900,000
#23 (# 6) David RAGAN $250,000
#36 (#13) Joe NEMECHEK $300,000

Grand Total: $1,700,000 (+/-$0 over/under budget)

Note: AM2 Motorsports realizes that this decision will not affect AM2's team championship points from Fontana (including Robby Gordon's points) and they understand 100% that David Ragan and Joe Nemechek's points will not count for AM2 until Las Vegas in 2 weeks.

So if the TTNCFCC (Ten-Tenths Nextel Cup Fantasy Championship Council) can recognize AM2's change as soon as possible/convienient, that would be great!

CHANGES AHEAD FOR CROOKS MOTORSPORT

Due to poor performances in the championship this year, I'm announcing that Scott Riggs and Reed Sorenson will not be driving for Crooks Motorsport any longer. Both have been involved in many a wreck and Riggs has dropped out of the top 35 in points.

Riggs and Sorenson will be replaced with Clint Bowyer and David Stremme, who's performances haven't been unnoticed by the team boss.

Unfortunately this uses up both of our allowed driver changes so early in the season, hopefully these drivers will continue as well as they are now..(but chances are they will flop and Riggs and Sorenson will start to shine ;))

Just to clarify, 'two driver changes', means you can have 'two single driver changes'. IE: you can swap one driver before, say the Darlington race, then another before the Talladega race. OR you could swap two drivers at once, IE dropping two of you drivers and picking two new ones, but this would be both of you driver changes used.

I have acknowledged this rule is a little more restrictive than I first thought it would be, so I will be changing it for next year, but will be keeping it as is for this year for benefit of everyone that has made changes so far etc.

also if anyone was wondering, Stealthy Motorsport was enterd for this round in time, as he had PM'ed me a few days ago :)

MASSIVE CHANGES AT JACKO JUNIOR RACING

Due to Jacko Junior Racing being stuck in 6th position for almost the entire season so far, we have decided that 6th isn't good enough as we want to go for the win. We are therefore making drastic changes to our line-up which might surprise some.

Leaving the team are the current points leader Jeff Gordon (due to the circumstances of not wanting the same team as others in front of us) and Carl Edwards (who is having a better season than last year but doesn't look like winning).

Replacing them are Jeff Burton (who is coming off the spectacular win in Texas) and young-gun Denny Hamlin, who is showing a little more promise than cousin Carl. JPM will be staying with us as he is exceeding our expectations in his first year in competition.

We know that we'll probably regret these changes at stages during the year, but the changes had to be made:

Newly Revised Line-Up

Jeff Burton $750,000
Denny Hamlin $700,000
JPM $250,000

Total $1,700,000

These changes are to be made effective immediately.

If we could get confirmation on this that would be appreciated.

Had been thinking about the driver changes rule, you are now allowed 10 changes throughout the whole season, which while it sounds like alot, isn't all that many over 36 races. If a mod can add that to the first post (for the benefit of any newcomers) that would be great :)

hence I've not changed your team yet Woodbine, you can make another change if you like.

!!!CHATTERS AUSSIE MOTORSPORTS PRESS RELEASE!!!

After a slow start to the year, Chatters Aussie Motorsports have decided that their recent performance spike (2 positions in 2 weeks!) is enough to start taking this NASCAR business seriously. The team have booted out rookie A.J. Allmendinger and Tony Stewart, and in their place come established drivers Jimmy Johnson and Jamie McMurray.

"It's a Triple J affair," said team boss/overlord Chatters. "We can't wait for the rest of this year now."

Results are coming soon...

Crooks Motorsport will be making wholesale changes to it's team, Out is Clint Bowyer and the dissapointing Kevin Harvick and in is the impressive rookie Juan Montoya, much improved Jamie McMurray and consistent frontrunner Denny Hamlin, which leaves the team as so:

Denny Hamlin (700,000)
Jamie McMurray (500,000)
David Stremme (300,000)
Juan Montoya (250,000)

The team wanted Jeff Burton instead of Hamline, but could not fit him under the salary cap, the team has now used 4 out of 10 driver changes (adding a driver doesn't count as a driver change)

NASCAR changes rules during the season, this is no different, you can use these to your advantage too. Others and Myself beleived that the 2 driver changes rule was too restrictive, that's not many changes over 36 races, we'll see how this goes and evaluate at the end of the season. It was NOT to disadvantage yourself or anyone else.

But thankyou for taking that line of questioning, I appreciate it.
It's not the first fantasy championship I've been in for anything (first on TTM, though), and words from an old message board mate of mine come to mind...]

"It takes one bad apple to wreck the fun for the rest of us."

Even if this stupidly unecessary ordeal blows over fairly quickly and without further incident (which one can only hope by now), it's going to feel like the damage is done. carma will feel cheated because rather than accept mid-season changes (which in an inagural board fantasy comp, it happens A LOT), he'll just feel like he was cheated and told to hush up. The organizer will overcompensate for any possible changes because of fears of more people having some "cheese with their whine". And worst yet, players will just be put off from the spirit of the game and no longer care as much.

So I say this for everyone involved:

carma: Changes happen. Just be happy that someone took their own time and effort to make this, even with trying to figure out the tiny details (like the salary cap and driver prices), especially seeing that this time could have been used for more important things than our entertainment. Besides, it's not like you have money or your reputation or any actual concrete real-life reward hanging on this game. Now if it was the F1 comp, that's a different story....

StuiE, the organizer: You're doing a bang up job of running this comp, and as for any future changes, maybe discussing it for a couple of days with the players won't cheese them off as much (that plus it will save your ass when players try using the "HEY U NEVER TOLD ME U WERE GONNA CHANGE THE GAEM AGAIN" card on you. Preparing for all eventualities and such.

Any other players kinda getting iffy about changes and possible situations like this:...

Just play the %#$@ing game already, for Christ's sake.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a bowl of Rice Krispies calling out for me from the cupboards before I go to sleep. Good evening....morning.....day?

Current Lineup Too Stale For AM2 Motorsport, Changes Made

01/10/07 (16:50 PST)
LOS ANGELES, California (US)

After downright boring and lackluster performances, AM2 Motorsport is forced to make some drastic changes to their driver lineup.

Drivers being SACKED as of AFTER Daytona II but BEFORE Chicagoland will be:

- Tony STEWART - $900,000
- Joe NEMECHEK - $300,000

Total freed up for use: $1,200,000

Team owner Victor Aquino was quoted as saying "Letting go of 2 drivers at the same time is never easy. But what was the real shocker was one of them being our pre-season marquee driver, Tony Stewart. I just don't get what's going on. He seems consistent in the COT/'08 car races, but he's just not finishing high enough on a regular basis, and in the totals, he's really costing us."

So with a good 1.2million freed in the driver budget, AM2 Motorsports now can hopefully freshen up the remainder of their season with their new additions. The following drivers have been HIRED as of AFTER Daytona II but BEFORE Chicagoland:

- Denny HAMLIN - $700,000
- Martin TRUEX, JR. - $500,000

Total cost for new drivers: $1,200,000

So here is AM2's new lineup, starting at Chicagoland:
#41 (#42) Juan Pablo MONTOYA $250,000
#76 (#11) Denny HAMLIN $700,000
#23 (# 6) David RAGAN $250,000
#36 (# 1) Martin TRUEX, JR. $500,000

Grand Total: $1,700,000 (+/-$0 over/under budget)

AM2 Motorsports thanks it's fans for their continued support!

Oh crap. I thought identical teams weren't allowed. Let me just get the ol' lineup book, make a few adjustments........and VOILA!

Okay, let's try this again:

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/3131/am2motoin4nr4.png

Foregoing all the usual PR crap we usually pull, AM2 Motorsport would like to request David Ragan to be replaced with Johnny Sauter UNDER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

- If rules/competition ethics dictate that a driver change cannot be made after qualifying but prior to that weekend's race, then please remove David Ragan for this weekend and do not add Johnny Sauter until after this race weekend but prior to the next.

- If it is perfectly fine with the rules and there are no major objections from any party, then please remove David Ragan for this weekend and replace with Johnny Sauter from here on out.

Thank you. Umm, peace out.

Identical teams are fine after the first race, IE at the Daytona 500 there can not be any identical teams, however, after that (ie: once there is a difference in each team's pointscore) then identical teams are fair game :)

For Chicagoland I'll score your team as your first post, with Ragan, just let me know if you want to change to Sauter or not for Indy.
