Pinched this from the GT & Sportscar Forum. Edited to include corrections:-

He should be regarded as one of the very best there is, just to take a few examples: Drove at LeMans in 1990 in Schuppan's Porsche 962 and came 12th together with Hurley Haywood and Wayne Taylor at an age of only 23! He also did a few races in the All-Japanese Sportscar Championship that year if I remember correctly. Won the Macau GP in 92 and set the lap record at Macau the year after. Has 21 victories and 41 poles in the BTCC between 94 and 2000, only Menu can beat that in wins. Drove for Prodrive in 3 races in FIA-GT in 2001 winning 2 of them (one together with Peter Cox as a matter in fact, also drove with Menu that year). Drove LeMans in 2002 in Prodrive's 550 with Menu and Enge and was 3rd in GTS in 2004 in the same car with McRae and Turner. Was one of the drivers who tested and developed the Aston Martin DBR9 for Prodrive and was one if not the one who did the most testing with it.
Funny how the same names keep appearing together...
Other then that he's been driving in ETCC and WTCC with a couple of wins, also driven V8Supercars at Bathurst and Sandown and winning the AMP Bathurst 1000 in 1998, in a Volvo.

What can I say, he's not a newbie when it comes to sportscar racing and LeMans, thats for sure. As SALEEN S7R pointed out, he might not be the fastest driver on outright speed, but when it comes to a whole season or 24 hours he's always there to deliver.
