Russfeld 20 Apr 2007, 16:34 That is a very underwhelming grid.
Wow. Someone I've never heard of at the top (although looking at his racing history, he's got bags of talent). He beat Hulkenburg last year though, when they were both new to F3 Germany...

What the hell is Dillman up to? Driving in the world championship holding team, running almost 3 seconds off the place. Admitedly, he's inexperienced; but still, that's pretty poor.
Anyway, time for some interesting stats.
This years qualifying times are consistently around 0.05 - 0.10 seconds slower than last years qualifying times.
Last years pole: Guerrieri 1.33.651
This years pole: Buemi 1.33.702
Last years top three finishers in the championship qualified 5th, 7th and 2nd respectively.
Koyabashi has the dubious honour of having qualified 0.6 seconds slower this year, despite last year it being his first race in F3ES and driving the same spec car.
The top 9 qualifiers last year all finished in the top 13 in the championship. The top 5 qualifiers all finished in the top 7.
Wonder how much we can read into that :)
Geva-Nelson 20 Apr 2007, 22:32 too early to read anything in it really. Just very happy to see Renger doing so well. Good bloke he is, known him for almost 4 years now. Didnt expect him to do so well so early on but for him, starting at a very familiar track won't hurt him!
i think DILEMANN had a serious Crash at Nogaro during Winter Testing, that is maybe the reason why he is so off the pace, he needs more time to recover i guess

DNS Dillmann
Buemi and Hulkenberg were rivals in Formula BMW in 2005, Buemi won the title after Hulkenberg was leading the championship almost for the whole year. But Hulkenbergs team filed a protest for an incident in the last weekend, won it and so Hulkenberg got the title after all. Guess Buemi is looking for revenge now, but there should be more guys able to win races just beside these two (Vernay, Buurman, Van Der Zande, Mortara, Kobayashi, Grosjean, Jakes, Mailleux, Clairay and Clos all should be able to get on the podium at least).
Super result for Mailleux, anyone know why Clairay DNF, cant find any info anywhere.
That was one dull race, the only interesting thing i can remember was Mailleux doing a 360°spin and Hülkenberg slipping through.
Why there was a rolling start in race 2?

Why there was a rolling start in race 2?
The TV commentators in the UK / Setanta reckoned it was because of the reverse grid and some of the slower cars being at the front. What I wondered was why the didn't have to form up two by two and started single file...
There was oil on the track from a previous race, so they wouldn't take any risk, so they made it a rolling start.
Shame that Van Der Zande's car broke down, he did very well yesterday. But Buurman did a great job today, great fight with Grosjean, but he was to quick, but he kept Buemi behind him, so 2nd is a very good result. I'm very dissapointed so far with Kobayashi, no points so far, but he hadn't the pace all weekend.
yeah a porsche engine blew up on the start/finish straight
