As always there were lots of classic and older cars in the carpark for the historic races - if you don't get there by not much after 9am you won't get into the special display area! Ok, on with the photos which may be found HERE (http://gallery128870.fotopic.net/c1290142.html) along with a thread on the racing cars here (http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1927208)

Probably the most unusual cars were this decrepit-looking pair. The car on the left with the timber plank running boards/mudguards is a Crossley while the car on the left is an Alvis. Not sure if you will be able to make out the Alvis' radiator mascot which is a singing Elvis figurine!

This is an American LaFrance - a converted fire engine, 14.5L 6cyl chain-driven monster! The top of the steering wheel is well over 6' high. The info board had an interesting line on it: Top speed: 80-100mph with bigger sprocket if brave

The engine - note the exposed pushrod gear, the flywheel teeth could also be easily seen - the engine was idling at 300rpm or less

A line-up of Allison sportscars. These have an aluminium monocoque construction with a mid-mounted Toyota engine. The first had 140bhp (and has completed 50,000km) while one is currently being built with a supercharged engine and 280bhp!!

I have also put a couple of photos of a Lancia Lambda sedan in the Pre War Saloon Cars (http://www.ten-tenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80148) thread.

Chrysler Valiant Pacer (VG model - 1970). This was the first model where the 245ci Hemi 6cyl replaced the old 225ci slant six, and for the Pacer could be had with a 4 barrel carby! Having a 3sp transmission and unassisted brakes went a long way to counteract the other racing-oriented goodies such as the enormous (optional) 35gal fuel tank
