Hi drift-sx, and welcome.
I'm not sure when the French Drift series will be shown, but I am sure as soon as someone finds out details will be posted :)
I think the Motors TV schedules are a bit full at the moment. It seems there is some sort of 24 hour race going on somewhere in France over the weekend ;)

I remember watching this one, when I still had access to the channel (its not free anymore...sadness...).

I'm French too by the way...

Well, the footage was ok, I mean you can really see that Drift is brand brand brand brand brand new in France, even in Europe, all the events I saw were NOWHERE to be compared to Australian drifting and I'm not even mentionning American or Japanese drifting cause this is a WHOLE different galaxy...but I guess there has to be a start sometime...and I hope that drifting will grow bigger in France.

We'll see.

I saw the EDC and UK series I think and you could see quite a lot of cars spinning, but a couple guys in the EDC (a 350Z, Yellow S13 silvia and Red S14 Silvia) had great skills and pulled out sweet lines.

Mark Luney, Mark Johnston and Brett Castle that would be :)

Yep, I remember the names Johnston and Castle...do you know who won the championship by now mate?

Brett Castle :)
BTW I think 2 other drivers were very good - Maciej Polody who drives from Poland for the events won rnd 2 Silverstone and seems really good; and Phil Morrison won D1GB 2006 (EDC's predecessor) but had a torrid season in a borrowed car - the engine kept breaking - but salvaged a 2nd place in the final :)

Thanks mate, sorry for the late reply.

I wonder if drifting really has got what it takes to become popular on our old continent, i saw that tuner battles started too but it's not so much in our culture like in Japan. Maybe if were were using our own cars instead of Jap machines in most cases...again I'm french, any good car to compete? Clearly NO! :(

For the timeattack, any sports car(Elise, 911, Sierra Cosworth) and hot hatch (Escort Cossie etc) will do and for drifting any properly done rwd car :)

hmmm i had to think for a while but there are a few french cars that spring to mind for both time attache and/or drift

Renault A610
R 5 turbo ( the proper one)
205T16

the more i think about it, the more the idea of a mid engined R5 drifting appeals:)

Clio V6?
For Club challenge Clio Williams/ Renaultsport Clio Mk2 and Mk3 - go against Civic Type Rs etc :) obviously not for drifting as FWD
Peugeot 505 could be a good low level drift car but would it be any good for higher level stuff?

Escort 1 and 2 for edc
RWD Sierra Cossies and XR4s; Escort Cossies for EDC - no need to convert to rwd for time attack though
Monaros VXR8s
Someone should do a Holden Ute. Probably same price as an S15 :)
Even some Ferraris (I wish) could be suitable for both :)

Holden utes have been drifted and proved hard to drive by most.. Monaro is easier. however... Silvias (of any kind including 180sx) are far superior for any kind of sideways shananigans.
Capt. VXR >> dont look at sticker prices to determine the cost of a drift setup. A holden ute will take far more engineering to get it drifting like a S15.

If u want to be original in choosing a drift car... find something with good weight distribution, and a good size wheelbase to try and make things more stable and alot easier on the car and the driver. Keep in mind, there is a reason ppl choose these Nissans and toyotas... I highly suggest drifting one of these cars before building something different. You will be amazed how easy it is in an S13/14/15 or R32/33 :D

That's why they're so popular and also because there are many parts. :) Compared to an E36 M3 how good is a S14 or S15?

Funny what you guys say about the R5 Turbo, in the video game forza motorpsorts 2 I tuned one with a Clio V6 engine in it haha.

But the wheelbase is way too short for drifting.

The Japs really have the "right" cars for it, do you remember the E36 BMW in D1GP? It had a Nissan SR20DET under the bonnet!! :D
