The bikes did return to Bathurst in the long run, at Easter in 2000. Pity that was the last time, while safety is obviously an issue, Bathurst is kids stuff compared to the Isle of Man and some of the Irish road races.
The 12 Hour was great fun, unfortunatly the 12 hour distance didn't lend itself to TV well, you either had to start the race very early, or finish the race late. The manufacturers did get involved though in the end which was good.
