Not exactly the same. His Benetton developped the problem latter and it was predicatble one: The box stuck once in 5th and that was it. And the engine was different to a 3.5L V8 with a lot of torque. Not to say that Schumacher had it easy, it was one of his finest drives.
Coulthard McLaren developped the problem earlier and it was a tricky one, sometimes the gearbox would work at others, it would shift on it's own on neutral under braking, then played a new trick by sticking in 6th, beaching DC for good.
